So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

I don't know do you deserve to get banned? I don't think so. I don't think anyone does as long as they're not affecting anyone else's experience. I don't really care how people do it. Also (this is how these things are found and fixed)
-
Who gives a shit. Either fix the problem or leave it alone. People found a loop hole. Shit happens...
-
Can everyone please stop being ignorant? You're not "breaking" the whole server. All the other players remain connected to the game. All the other enemies continue to spawn and attack the way they normally would. Oversoul still activates like normal. The ONLY thing effected is Crota himself. You're not "breaking the whole server" if only one thing in the server is glitched. "Breaking the whole server" is what happened on release night for Master Chief Collection. Not this. It's a simple thing for Bungie to fix. In fact, I can totally see how something like that could be overlooked. You don't exactly plan for people either legit lagging out or logging out during a boss fight. Simple fix. Not something to ban people over.
-
Should not be banned. Game developers should deliver decent stuff. Noobs
-
Suree, lets ban half our player base. Smart idea of them.
-
Lol no one is going to get banned.
-
I haven't cheesed him yet but I have to say, it's a chore finding a group that doesn't want to cheese. I don't look down upon those who don't have the time to find a legit group and just say -blam!- it and end up on a fire team that's cheesing
-
BAN HAMMER MUST BE DROPPED INCITE ALL THE RIOTS CHRISTMAS NOOBS WILL RUIN EVERYTHING KILL ALL THE TUBERS
-
Even deej makes fun about glitching and cheesing in his christmas / holdiday post.
-
I think they should ban the people they have proof glitched him. By that I mean the people that have videos of them doing it and in the game someone says ok disconnect now! I mean accidents can happen a dog could pull out your internet cable or something at the right time to cause this glitch I guess (highly unlikely). But because of this I think solid proof must be available to ban them.
-
Bungie won't do it, but Sony will. Already had a friend of mine banned for violating the terms by cheating Crota.
-
No ones going to get banned, its a glitch. Using that logic would mean if the game glitchs, then we should get a refund.
-
I really doubt that they would. It would alienate a large chunk of the people playing the game. I am all for doing it legit, did it legit for the first two weeks. Now it is back to the grossing for the same armor that I don't need, so yea do whatever takes the least amount if time.
-
If Bungie keeps slapping these exploiters on the wrist nothing will change.
-
I would love to get banned, would stop me grinding this game hoping to get the Gjallarhorn. I have been playing more and more halo (it is getting better with each update)
-
Bungie can't really ban them for a glitch they have in game they were to ignorant to properly test ALL parts of the game and attempt to fix it so bullshit on there part. However, this violates SOE and Microsoft's terms and services it is at their discretion. So in terms of the game, no they should not be banned for another bungie -blam!- up. In terms of PSN and XBOX LIVE, yes because this violates what should be a very important clause in their contracts. This wouldn't mean banning from one game this would be banning from ALL games across each consoles respective servers.
-
If i get banned i wont care....maybe i can even go outside again
-
How else would Bungie locate and fix bugs like this, unless we found them and used them? They didn't hack the game, they didn't mod their xbox or playstations, they aren't running another app or something similar. They are only using the licensed version of the game, and the factory console. Maybe a week ban is appropriate, but a perma ban is not.
-
Could care less I guess it wouldn't be a problem if they didn't make a shit game
-
I chesse everything in the game. Everything!
-
Why do people care so much? It's a game they play how they want you play how you want
-
I cheese everything. Have a blast doing it.
-
"Do." It's "do."
-
Yes !!! Cheesers and glitchers should get banned! They ruin the game and they make iT that in the end everyone thinks that players who beat the raid etc cheesed iT, just like when you saw someone with the vex.. Most people tought oh he surely cheesed atheon cus he has a vex. Cheesing should be eliminated, good players wil beat raids etc without chees anyway, only bad players want chees, glitches not to get patched
-
I've done it legit a few times, been there when they've cheesed it a few times.. I can honestly say it's probably quicker doing it legitimately, that being said I don't really care how people do it. At the end of the day it's their choice whether they wanna feel like they've beaten him
-
What happens in the extremely rare case that you loose connection as he's kneeling and it's just your Internet messing up? They couldn't ban you for that?
