So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.

Ban me im here do it do it nowwwwwee

I love that you realized you are a fool, and agreed to not post such stupid nonsense again. Thank you for signing out.

Im not a cheater! Im a beater!

Doesn't affect my game whatsoever, don't see why they should be banned. I don't believe in "honor" and "pride" in a video game like most people on these forums so I don't care if some random players I don't know are exploiting a boss fight in a lobby I'm not involved with.
-
They shouldn't get simply because they are only exploiting a weakness in bungies game. It's up to bungie to fix and until then it will be exploited. As others have said though. It takes longer to glitch than it does legit with the right team

After weekly update I'm pretty sure that clarifies there will be no ban. Lol at u wasting all that time to put this post together.

Never kneeled crota in a glitches way because it takes longer than killing him normally. 32s kill him in 2 swords. But am I am cheater or a glitcher because one time we killed sword bearer and he dropped two swords? And we used those suckers. Or when swapping chalice back and forth somehow we got two of them? Or hiding back in the back room to avoid fire? Because technically the enemies won't go in there so we are exploiting a safe zone. I don't know, I don't care really, these things are just like all the major talking points in society. People say being Muslim is bad when someone's religion affects you zero, or being homosexual means you're a sinner and straight people speak out against them when a persons sexuality affects you none. You're trying to put yourself on a pedestal for people to rally behind, but your ideals are rooted in self-desire. You either have convinced yourself that these "cheaters" are terrible people or you know that your intentions are jaded. I have a question for you and any that bothers reading, there was a man in history that rallied millions of people to a cause, giving the people a figure to look to because he played on their trust. This man rallied millions to execute millions of people because they did this man wrong, he had a personal vendetta against them so he rallied others to murder them. This man was Adolf Hitler. I know that this is far from the extremity of this current situation, however your motives are the same. Manipulate others to rally behind a cause that is jaded. Your cause is jaded because it is irrelevant, how others play their game affects you, and anyone around you, none. This post has made you popular, I bet made you feel significant, like you could really accomplish something, but who am I to judge. This is a posting that was posted to do nothing other than rally the troops, I wish you would use your new found fame to do something positive within the community, not want to remove people who paid their $60+ for doing what comes natural to humans. It is why we have survived, we have a brain that wants to to figure out how to accomplish something with less work. Reduce workload, increase reward. Leave the people to their own play style, and you can go back to yours. Thank you
-
If they do, the Tower will be a cold and lonely place.
-
This is how I see it: we paid for the game. We should be able to do whatever we want in it. If bungie doesn't like something, then get off your asses and fix it. If you don't want people getting into secret areas, then take it out completely or add it already. It's not like people are modding their systems in order to cheese crota. It's a mess up by bungie and rather than punishing people for exploiting their crappy development, they should simply fix it.
-
The only reason the exploit was even found is because of Destiny's servers kicking people constantly. The blame goes back on them. Add to the fact the quite a few players get such unbelievably bad drops and it's understandable why some prefer not to waste their time doing some parts legit. We need a better way to reward people for actually completing raids legit other than this horrible RNG system. Maybe let players earn a type of raid currency that can be turned in for raid items. It would give you reasons to play the raid over and over knowing that there is a guaranteed reward in sight rather than be disgusted when you keep walking away with mostly radiants. Blame the system and the flaws within it in this case.

They deserve an apology from bungie
-
That three people has got banned is complete and utter crap. What are they going to ban me for? A glitch that bungie has not fixed yet? Are they going to ban me for being a lazy American who wants to kill Crota in 5 minutes? We pushed the Templar off and we pushed Atheon off and nobody got banned for that so what's the difference?
-
I don't think it would be fair for Bungie to band players for exploiting Crota when, more often than not, Crota exploits us using his arsenal of glitches and cheat codes.
-
Well, many parts of the game are still broken, so we were essentially sold an unfinished product. Until they fix their in game errors and network errors, I don't see how glitching Crota is any worse.
-
I hope they do ban the crap out of everyone this community deserves a spanking
-
There is a massive difference between cheesing and actual network manipulation. The former you stay in the game and are using an oversight of the designers to complete the task at hand in an easy way. The latter, however, is an actual violation of the terms of service contract with either XBL or PSN, and a punishable offence. The network disconnect is definitely the latter. To all saying that staying up top and sniping oracles and the templar, or pushing the templar or Atheon are the same as unplugging your network cable to get Crota to kneel longer,; there is a drastic difference. Also, when a random disconnect happens there is generally an error code that is generated, with a disconnect, that may not happen, I cannot with 100% certainty though. But as someone that went to school for it and currently working at a job that involves networking and issues with it, there is a definite, noticeable difference between a disconnect because of issues and a network cable being unplugged.

If Bungie want the Ban, and do this ... they lose more then 6 mio players! Destiny is a good Game, but not good enough. Bungie need to fix the Bugs and make a lot of changes. (1 Part: Change back the Armor in the shop from 33 light to 27). If they do the same in the next month, a lot players will go and play other Games. (Tom Clancy the division etc.)
-
I always said I wouldn't glitch Crota (Its a blatant glitch not an exploit) but with the constant bugs such as sword disappearing almost instantly, cheese is looking more and more tempting.
-
glitches are to be exploited, just like money to be spent xD Its common for ppl to take the easiest route rather than a difficult one. thats why y r humans and not god.
-
While i dont feel cheasers should be banned or even given a slap on the wrist due to these cheeses being something bungie should have forseen and made surw to test.(you should never rush or cut back on content, glare) i do feel the best way to punish these people is to simply fix the issue by dispersing the crota load packets to other members of the fireteem as a way to prevents this. Basicly punish them by making them play it the way it was intended. I used to cheese templar and atheon all day, but since the patch i actualy have some respect for these encounters because if your trying to do them legit they actualy take some amount of skill and communication.
-
Ah math my old nemesis. We meet again >:)
-
I didnt read yoir entire post but there is no way to distinguish if someone is dc when crota is kneeling. And also with how many people play this game im sure some have been dcd during that fight. There would be no way to ban people for this as there is no way to tell if your disconnecting on purpose or if it was an accident or even tell at all. Also this whole new raid is cheesable exploitable or cheetable in some way so its not really appropriate to ban anyone when you didnt quite put enough testing into this new raid before releasing it.
-
Edited by Sallus777: 1/8/2015 5:57:46 AMThis so called glitch is like the borderland dup trick with whole dash board. Bungie has the right to ban but this was something they should've looked into. Still banning will only draw people away from this game because of the lack of testing. This was just a huge over sight on Bungie's part just like the first loot cave this one will take a while to fix. please test this stuff better and not ban people for using their brains but then again word of mouth and youtube kills this neat stuff for people to find and enjoy even if for a bit to exploit. I'm not sure Microsoft will be all the willing to help since they pissed them off and users on that platforming by contracts and exclusives with one platform. Good luck on trying to fix this because I'll be impressed if you manage to fix this.
-
Nope why should people be banned? Crota raid is very easy doing it legit anyway. Cheesing is obviously quicker so people will always take advantage plus the crota raid has way too many glitches! The vault of glass is a much more enjoyable experience and way more challenging but the crota raid needs alot of patching.

This was the old bungie. The new one doesn't care at all about the community.
