I've experienced similar and people in my fire team also seem to be effected by it. I've had games with zero ammo of any kind. Two strikes and a daily with no heavy. And last night a fire team member had zero ammo the Omnigul strike while I was wearing them.

That seems to be the same as what I was experiencing. To clarify, I wasn't seeing ammo drops for any weapon type. Not white primary weapon packs, no green specials, and no purple heavy. And the cause (that has so far effectively recreated the problem) is idling until destiny logs you out, and the solution was to close destiny completely and restart it. This also fixes many other bugs.
