how to get lots o' ascendent stuff?
I'm prime for upgrading lots of gear, but I never have any ascendent energy or shards. How can I get lots of this stuff?
NOTE: Yesterday I played on the moon for a while until a public event came, then I got something like a mote of light or some other non-ascendent thing. Today I wasted an hour on the moon before a public event finally happened, and I was about 2 or 3 seconds late to get there. I destroyed an exotic gun, only to get one of those exotic upgrade things (not the ascendent materials). I destroyed a legendary piece of armour and only got hadronic essence (which was unusual).
Where/how do I get ascendent materials?

Do the Vault of Glass ( or VoG) every week. that is where all the ascendant materials hang out and who knows? you might get an exotic.

If u can do vog to that its one of the faster ways prob getting u 10 or more u can also destroy the weapons for more as well

There's a website called Destiny Public Events Tracker. It predicts where and when public events will occur and what they will be. Surfing public events is a great way to get the weekly mark cap and to get ascendant mats.

Do the daily every day. That will give you two. Also run the vault of glass. Lots in there to.

1 ReplyGo to the recruitment folder and start looking for a group to do The Vault of Glass. Let the group know it's your first time and you're learning it. They'll teach you eat part. One full run in the VOG can get you 10-12 ascendant materials (if you break down any armor/weapons you get). If you're a Lower level, the armor could also be good for you. The weapons you can earn are also very strong, even later in the game as 300 dmg.

Google destiny public event tracker and it'll give you all the public event times on all planets and areas. That way you can knock them all out and not have to wait so long because you'll know when and where the next public event is coming.

(shards come out of any legendary armour, apart from those that you bought with glimmer or were awarded from the Queen's Bounty event.)

1 ReplyI believe you meant exotic gun and got an exotic shard. All exotics drop exotic shards. The legendary armor you dismantled was probably either queen's armor or Iron banner armor. 1) Daily Story gives x2 materials 2) Run Vault of Glass raid on each character 3) Buy gear/guns from vendors if needed and break them down Vault usually is fastest way to get alot.... im still sitting on around 400shards right now

Daily story lvl 30 gives 2 ascendents. Do the daily public event on 3 characters. Max crucible and vanguard marks each week and puchase boots or gloves from them and dismantle.
