Bungie will not restore items lost for any reason, seen people on here that have lost items due to bugs and even entire characters vanish and it's just tough luck as far as they're concerned.

Nothing gained or loss from trying. If they were willing to give a sickly fan an exclusive exotic scout rifle maybe they could give back my favorite weapon. Can't hurt by asking nicely
