Plasmas are on the way out, currently being replaced by OLED, but LCD and LED are no replacement for Plasma. Only an idiot would think so.

And it sucks they are being replaced with tv's that don't have the same image quality and depth of color. They are only on the way out because the cost to make them is a lot higher then LCD/led tvs

They are only on the way out because the cost to make them is a lot higher then LCD/led tvs ^ this It's a shame that a lot of people don't realise it's down to manufacturers trying to lower costs rather then getting something better.

LCD and LED LCD (which is just an LCD panel with an LED backlight as opposed to florescent) both suck. I'm talking about OLED, which is currently the best screen you can buy, especially at 4K resolution. They are not cheap. Not even a little bit. http://www.cnet.com/news/post-4k-oled-tv-where-does-picture-quality-go-from-here/

Because it's a new technologie, that's why it's so expensive. Of course its going to look better, its also extremely expensive to purchase
-
Yep... so what was your first response about?
"And it sucks they are being replaced with tv's that don't have the same image quality and depth of color. They are only on the way out because the cost to make them is a lot higher then LCD/led tvs"
OLED is BETTER picture quality, and not cheaper to produce... There was a time when a plasma would cost $10k.
-
And yes at one point Plasmas were 10k but that's not the case right now... So yes you can get a better picture but it will be at a cost of a car payment for the average person. Good luck getting a oled TV in the next 5 years for under 2k.
-
For the most part the main market is buying LCD and LED TVs because a normal person with an average income will not purchase an OleD TV. So for the normal consumer they cannot get a great picture or as good of a picture out of a LCD or LED TV as they would a plasma TV in the same price range.
-
Lulz because they are energy efficient doesn't make them better picture if that's what you're getting at.
-
I'm not sure what you mean by "they" (LED/LCD/Plasma/OLED), poor use of a pronoun. But for your sake I hope you're not referencing OLED...
-
yeah you got me (face palm), totally misread your post har har har. OLED vita for instance is better than the LED version for screen quality which is why I bought one before they were no longer in stores. The new OLED's that can turn the pixels off for black color rather than grey it out is what I believe you are referrng to when you say they are replacing plasma?
-
Yes. OLED is the future of TVs/Monitors. http://www.cnet.com/news/post-4k-oled-tv-where-does-picture-quality-go-from-here/

I saw one in a microcenter, I will be saving my pennies for a curved OLED with that tech when the price drops. I work in eyewear and we need to curve your lenses in order for your eye to process the information properly, I'm surprised curved tv's didn't take off when we went digital years ago.
