Most loyal players thrown aside for newer ones?

So whilst I actually enjoyed the short but sweet expansion (many didn't!) there was one thing that emerged that felt like a slap in the face. Shop vendors and missions all started selling gear better then the previous best in game. Now this would be fine if all pre-existing gear was upgraded as well but instead they were completely ignored. VoG your ultimate challenge, now provides worse then average gear. People who had invested hours upon hours getting the best stuff in game were now made completely redundant and thrown aside for literally anyone new. I will concede you allowed the upgrade of random old exotics from Xur. Fair play - but with the cost of the upgrades and the random nature of what he allows you to upgrade, you've completely slowed down and destroyed the progress the older players have made. In the mean time players taking up the game now can overtake us with much less effort. Events like iron banner add to the issue when gears taken into account and as such you've truly screwed over the people who had been most loyal to you from get go. Now im not saying all old gear should be given +33-36 light - I do understand that's ludicrous, but certainly old exotics should have been upgraded for free and old raid gear increased so as you could at least hit level 31 with it. Maybe also the queens gear since that no longer seems to be a thing. Anyway, just seems unfair for your longest players to screw them over so much. Surely you reward the loyal.

  • I'm not a Bungie Employee, but I went ahead and moved your thread to #Feedback which is where the developers look for this sort of thing. #Help is more so for help of a technical nature with regards to Bungie.net and Destiny. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Destiny in a civil and honest way :)

  • Like any MMO the casual's are rewarded the most. The casuals drive the game, they want to be rewarded with the least amount of effort needed. It's a simple and common strategy employed but the biggest of the biggest. Why make the game difficult to attain rewards and lose subscribers when you can make it easy to attain rewards and pacify the casual with a little reward here and there. Don't get me wrong you likely won't see any casual players running around with the best of the best gear, but they won't be limited from exploring end game content. Xur helps that need with the casual as well. Just wait until this game starts to die off. I can almost guarantee they'll introduce "crafting" or companions, micro transactions etc. Bungie is learning, and their investors want to see profit, and you'll never profit from "hardcore" gamers. You strive off fanboys and casuals looking for a quick fix 2h a day.
