I would love to trade my 2,000 Hadronic Essence and 1,500 weapon parts to something useful

  • Longwinded dribble ahead with a few good points IMHO. If you don't have time to read just reply on the posts request and skip the novel below. :) When you just start out in Destiny those items as well as planet materials didn't really stockpile up at least for me. Once I hit level 20 obtaining new and better weapons and armor to spend those items into their perks just disappeared. Of course that is when the "real" game begins which meant getting and upgrading hundreds of new weapons and armor disappeared. It would be so much more enjoyable to get hundreds of new types of weapons and armor to spend this crap on if we can no longer get marks for some of it. I assume the real reason there are only a tiny number of legendary and exotic weapons is only to keep PvP under control. Having a random generator with hundreds of perks and mods to assign a new legendary or exotic would be a nightmare in PvP. Instead of just making PvP and PvE weapons and armor, it looks like they took the easy way out. Just think how cool the game would get if they had PvP items that were equal to allow skill to reign supreme in the Crucible and Iron Banner. Those items would be useless in PvE. PvE would have their own items with hundreds or thousands of perks and mods to make those items as strong or weak as the random generator allows. These items would be useless in PvP to ensure no OP load out exists. I am sure most of us have favorite perks others hate. I know I would happily salvage my Red Death for another one with a good scope. Hell, add a random generator to allow new re-rolls on existing weapons and armor. Doing this re-roll would add a mod to make that item useless in PvP. Just give us something useful to use this crap on and add cool things into the game to make it more unique. I don't care for having the same items as the other players do. Mix things up, and more variety. It's like everyone who played Borderlands has said, the main draw it had wasn't the awesome cartoon graphics, it was the nearly limitless weapons you could find and the TON of loot. Diablo 2 and then after dozens of patches Diablo 3 main draw was the loot. Lots of loot with tons of different types of perks. I and millions of others played those games a long time. We still play those games. I never thought about how much I was grinding in those games. All that I kept playing for was to have fun with friends AND strangers, against ALL parts of the game WHILE acquiring new weapons and armor. YES, those games were basically grinding playing the same content over and over BUT unlike Destiny, the near limitless amount of gear and frequency of getting that stuff pushed the grinding thought out of my mind. For now, GRINDING is at the forefront of the game no matter how hard I try to replace it with one of the limited things to do in the game. Another cool game I sunk a lot of money into was DC Universe Online. To me that game understood PvE and PvP. Yes, it is Free to Play but the paid content was too tempting not to get. I don't love PvP but some games make it really cool. This is one game that did. They also separated PvE and PvP weapons and armor. I don't ever remember playing with people that complained about the crap Destiny players and I do. Bungie, please take a look at those games and others like DC Universe Online. We want to stay and play but our interest to stay and put up with boring grinding for nothing will not last one year let alone 10 years.
