I absolutely agree with this. Materials were NOT a problem for me, however MARKS, namely crucible marks because I prefer pve are slow to get. You swapped them around rather than allowing the player to choose.
Asinine decision by whoever made that decision.
Bungie, could you now explain the reason to stop and gather materials or open chests on your 'open world' patrol map? Because I am failing to see why you'd bother. It is now more efficient to do the mundane missions and NOT waste time bothering to stop and explore. -blam!-ing incredibly ridiculous design in a game that has so many poor design flaws that have been spelled out to you by the 'players' that play your game.

It's crazy. There is literally NO REASON to enter a cave, jump onto a ledge or open a chest. It's so stupid it's mind blowing.
