I have a ‘cool story’ about my gear in Destiny but I think Bungie missed the point...
First off this isn’t a rant:
Up to now I’ve run Weeklies/Nightfalls/Patrols with 3 friends: 2 from my clan & my Shadow Price – Her name is Bessie
Ever since I found her she has been a reliable & integral part of my Fireteam. Her perks are amazing to me, they are not standard, you couldn’t buy her from the Vanguard Quartermaster, she was unique(-ish)...but do I love her because I got her as a reward for a random Tiger Strike?
In short, no - I love her because of all of the shit we’ve been through together since I found her.
But now that the DLC has dropped she is less effective, not altogether useless, but she is not the solid go to Primary I was used to.
If Bungie are serious about us having attachments to our weapons/gear or being able to truly tell fantastic stories about them, then they really ought to look at the possiblility of upgrading not just Exotics but Legendaries too. I’d level her up 5 times over just to get her back to what she once was. Yes I could find another Shadow Price, but it isn’t guaranteed to have the same perks & it won’t replace Bessie.
She will always have a place in my vault – regardless of whether that gets expanded or not.

My Super Pox. It was the first legendary I bought with marks before I knew the sad truth of pulse rifles. She never let me down though. Her field scout, glass half full, and reactive reload brought me through hordes of enemies and I just couldn't bring myself to replace her. She still sits in my inventory (not my vault) because my warlock just feels naked without her. I still take her out for the odd patrol or strike, just for old time's sake.

2 RepliesI completely agree mate. It's a shame there's no easy way to hold onto these weapons as the level cap progresses and new weapons are brought in! Interested to hear what people think about it!

This story touched me. +1 for Bessie Ps: I find it funny almost everybody I hear gives their weapons female names. I call my TDYK Henry.

Hiracon LR5 That gun was with me thick and thin from level 20 to 27. We struck down armies in the crucible and armadas in PvE. She shot purple (void) bullets so I called her Violet and she loved getting head shots. She would let me reload her quicke if i scored one.... Coupled with my naturally fast reload for head shots, made some stunningly fast reloads. We made quite a team, she now is resting on perminant holiday. Safe in the knowledge that she will never be dismantled.

Same with my vanquisher I got from my a nightfall before TDB. It really sucks that we can't upgrade old legendaries.
