Durandal and Joyeuse are allegedly filled to the brim with pieces of holy relics in the first place. We'd have to go back to Marathon to research Durandal a bit more to see if the holy relics have any prominence in that trilogy. With correlation to L00's post above, this crown was believed to be forged from one of the nails used in the most famous crucifixion in human history. A link between his sword, Joyeuse, and the crown if ever there was one. Given the crown made one a "A King of Italy", which embodied power, strength, and intelligence. L00's speculation about Joyeuse being an AI which has those delusions can carry on to the protagonist at some point within the game.
