I would argue that you shouldn't underestimate the creative power of this industry. But I don't think that this is something that was set in stone from the start. I'm thinking that the guys working on Marathon stumbled upon this concept when writing for Durandal's character. During Halo, they may have gone with it because they needed something to help guide character development. Essentially, I don't think that this was a highly organized conspiracy from the start, let alone from Halo development. Besides, it would be silly to turn something into your franchise Bible for the sake of novelty. But I do have faith that this formula (specifically, the Charlemagne part) is flexible enough to be utilized in a new game.
Posted by: Arbiduck To be honest, I don't think any developer is smart/caring enough to have a formula for what they are doing years into the future(aside from game dev timelines). I think Destiny is going to be something none of us expect (at least most of it being unpredictable.) It seems like a lot of posters are making mountains out of molehills and frankly grasping at straws to try and glimpse Destiny. And it's a great goal, to be sure (I wish I had the dedication to put something like this together!). But imho, all this specal-uatin' is pretty pointless until we see more. That said, it was a good read/will be nice to ponder, Siffy. Maybe you're right and I'm just a pessimist.
