Yeah, the chests are absolutely pointless now.
I mean.. I don't even pick up green engrams anymore. Why bother? I barely bother picking up blue engrams either, as they NEVER give me legendaries. Not once have I got anything but a blue item I've seen thousands of times already. And now daily heroics and marks can give me planetside materials aswell.. so.. why bother picking up a chest?
After all, I've must've picked up about a thousand chests on my material runs and I've got ONE legendary item from a chest, which was an ascendant shard. I was actually surprised it CAN happen :D
But.. the chests are completely pointless, honestly.
Come to think about it; This game has become downright [b]DEPRESSING[/b].

Same here collecting countless of materials. My brother and I share PSN and I do the farming for materials for our upgrades while he does PVP. I have my level 29 hunter and he has his 29 titan and take turn playing just switching out our characters. At times I find energy shards, strange coins, motes of light, and legendary engrams (Conduit, light beware, epitaph, swarm, the comedian, final boss) and the common ship blueprint, ammo synthesis. But the odds are really low. I still like playing destiny.
