Your numbers are off. It would take 100 vanguard to get 20 crucible if you chose that method. The point is that people that wanted faction gear had a way to buy it without the crucible. Now they don't. Which sucks for people that don't play crucible.

My numbers are not off. You just repeated what I just said. LOL. The original way was: 50 material = 5 Crucible or 200 material = 20 Crucible If both methods were in place: 10 Vanguard = 20 material or 100 Vanguard = 200 material 200 material = 20 Crucible and you would still be able to farm the worlds for material once your weekly Vanguard was capped. Either way, why should you earn Crucible gear if you don't play Crucible? That would be like me getting mad that I can no longer buy Raid gear (if it were an option) because I'd actually have to play it to get it and can no longer buy it. Just play the Crucible, you get like 5 marks for winning and I think 3 marks for losing. A match of Clash lasts about 10 mins versus farming for an hour to get 200 material to get 20 marks.

  • I apologize, I miss read your post. I Thought you were saying 25 vanguard marks would have givin you 20 crucible. My mistake. My question is Why did they bother giving us that option in the 1st place? I can earn faction rep without the crucible, why should I have to run crucible to get their gear?

  • I always thought that was strange too. Maybe they thought people would have so much fun farming their worlds that they'd have this immense surplus of materials that they wouldn't know what to do with it. So in the end they could just give it to a quartermaster. That's really my only explanation. As for earning faction rep without needing the Crucible, I have no explanation for that. Just another mystery in Destiny that doesn't have time to be explained why it can't be explained. If they're going to allow that then they should allow Vanguard marks to be used to buy their weapons and armor. Or at least have different sets of weapons and armor for Vanguard and Crucible marks.

  • I can agree with that. It would be a reasonable alternative. The funny part is, now they have so many new ways to aquire materials your almost guaranteed to have that surplus. Yet, because they removed the exchange, there is nothing to do with those excess materials.
