They got rid of it because it would be too easy to get Vanguard and Crucible marks. If you could buy 20 materials for 10 Vanguard marks, or 50 material for 25 Vanguard marks you could get a maximum of 20 Crucible marks in seconds assuming you were maxed out for the week. Did you guys really hate the Crucible that much that you would trade in 50 materials for a measly 5 marks? That's a total ripoff. LOL. I do believe this way is better, as PVP and PVE world's are now separated, only being linked by the Tower.
