OK I am a PvE player, 95% of the time.
I only played PvP during the week where I maxed out my Crusible marks for the achievement, again for a few days for the Thorn & Invective bounties, and again for Iron Banner 2.0. I will be doing so again to finish off the bad JuJu Bounty. I am strictly average at pvp with a KDR of around 1 on the dot.
I can tell you this now, bungie is NOT forcing you to play PVP.
Firstly, the best PVE weapons such as The Devil you know, the swarm and Epitaph are all bought from the vanguard quartermaster.
You still HAVE to do the Vault to get to level 30. In fact you do not have to play PVP once to get to level 30.
The best weapons in the game, are the raid Legendary weapons. These piss all over most other legendary weapons, and even most exotics. You are not going to get any of these weapons in PVP.
Exotics have a MUCH higher drop rate during the raid and Nightfall than in PvP.
The best way to get strange coins, is by running the weekly heroic at level 28. In fact its the only guaranteed way to get strange coins.
The faction gear can all drop as a random reward in PVE as well.
There are more disadvantages to being a PVP only player than a PVE only player by a LONG shot.

BULLSHIT. You guys get better rolls in PVP than we do, you get a MUCH easier time to get stuff than PVE'rs (ya dont even need ONE -blam!-ING KILL!!!!) AND you guys have gotten damn near 75% of the game since Beta. BETA was the LAST time PVE'rs had even EQUAL footing to ya'll. Don't try to fool yourself or make excuses sonny. The Best PVE weapons are bought from the Quartermaster? YA -blam!-ING THINK? THAT'S PVE. Guess what? The weapons you get from Crucible? THEY'RE pretty damn good too genius. The best weapons in the game are the raid Legendary? They may come stock with some decent stuff, but that ain't true. The best weapons still stay Exotic. Hell, I'd love to see someone try to outDPS me with my Icebreaker VS their Praedyth. Exotics drop high during Raid and Nightfall? Really. THIS is why you think PVE is better? Dumbass, you can keep playing Crucible all -blam!-ing week! We only get ONE raid/NF per character. (unless you raid norm then hard, which is counterproductive.) Strange Coins for a weekly. Hm. AGAIN. ONCE A WEEK! Faction Gear? Really? You know, you have to buy it with Cru marks, you can't with Van? AND you get it dropped once you get your Cru bonuses high enough? In short, you are trying to make excuses. We PVE'rs get ONE chance per week to get ANYTHING, and can get NOTHING for the two hardest PVE challenges. YA'LL PVP'rs don't have to do DICK and can get the BEST WEAPONS with a freakin .00004 K/D. Don't give me that bs PVE gets MORE crap.

Edited by D0uBLeKiLLBiLL: 12/2/2014 8:41:32 PMI have gotten all my exotics except Thunderlord and MIDA Multi Tool (which I either never or rarely use because I prefer others) from either Raid, Nightfall, Xur or very rare random engram drops. That says alot when you have almost 30 different exotics. You get many more chances for coins from PVE between Nightfall, Weekly and Daily as well as engrams from strikes compared to the seldom seen coin after a PVP match. Take it from someone who runs a clan and does the raid, nightfall, weekly, dailies including bounties and maxes out vanguard marks with strikes for two characters as well as plays a lot of PVP and has over 16 days of gameplay logged on multiple characters compared to your measly 2 days, you have no idea what you are talking about. You have 19 crucible events total on all your characters. You have NO raid events and have done mainly story and patrol with a few strikes. You have no experience with this game. Either you are completely idiotic or a mediocre troll...

I really don't see the big deal. I can't say that any of the weapons you can buy with crucible marks are worth it. Even if you wanted to get something, you get crucible marks just by participating in PvP.

Whoa.

I'm with this guy! Well said.

Edited by KidSixXx: 12/2/2014 8:26:10 PMI am very average when it comes to PvP and I have close to a thousand kills with Hand Cannons with most of them coming by way of Vanguard purchased version of The Devil You Know. It is a perfectly fine PvP weapon. I only gave it up when I got The Last Word and decided that my alternate PW should probably be an Auto-Rifle since my new IB boots provide more ammo for that weapon type. The OP is saying that there was no reason to remove something from the game that wasn't broken to begin with and only became "broken" when this new feature was added since there was the potential for PvE players to convert Vanguard Marks into Crucible Rank He has a very valid argument. PvE players didn't break this system. Quick fixers that don't venture further than the Divide for Spinmetal did. I don't agree with most of his arguments because I think that strict PvE players are only enjoying half of the game, but that does not invalidate his opinion.

Edited by Betamax: 12/2/2014 7:44:16 PMRaider, great post. You laid it all out logically and simply, yet comprehensively. Nicely done.
-
Those are not the best pve weapons.
-
This guy speaks the truth! But you see there's a flaw. All the stuff you mentioned he won't do. The guy won't do a raid so all the raid gear and level 30 stuff is a moot point. It's funny how he complains about how Bungie ruined PvE yet doesn't even explore all PvE options the game provides. Bungie should have made a patrol game specifically for this guy so he would be happy.
-
Wait.... he is a PVE only player, that doesn't touch the best PVE content in the game? Ok. Jesus I just checked his stats. Does he just do patrol missions? He hasn't done more than a handful of strikes either. What the hell does this guy do? Literally just farm spinmetal?!?!
-
Yeah he basically plays this game like a farming simulator.

Edited by radioavon: 12/2/2014 7:16:47 PMHow about we add that as an expansion. Get me a little plot of land out in the cosmodrome. Convert my sparrow into a plow. Set up a little spin metal farm, tend to my crops and fend of marauding fallen trying to steal my horses. Travel to the tower on the weekends to sell my goods at the farmers market.
-
That would kind of be fun actually. I always thought that having our own rooms in the tower accessed through an elevator, would be sick. Your idea sounds exactly what the OP wants destiny to be.
