Because while farming you can also complete patrol missions, bounties, and public events. Can hit plenty of daily PvE activities at once instead of playing the same repetitive PvP maps seeing nothing but Suros, and shotguns/fusion rifles.
I play PvP when I need to for my exotic bounties, during IB, etc. but I would much rather turn in materials for crucible marks than grind out matches just to get gear that I would break down for materials.

You complain about PvP being repetitive but he specifically only does one strike and how many times can you patrol and it not be just as boring as PvP? At least in PvP there is a challenge which makes it fresh. For patrol I know where all enemies spawn, in what area to look for all farming materials, and what patrols and public events will be available. How is that not as or more boring?

One strike? Pretty sure I do all of them randomly when I select that tiger strike playlist. And farming may also be repetitive, but there is a whole lot more of the world to break up the monotony than the same tiny PvP maps over and over.

Edited by PixelatedMess: 12/2/2014 6:06:53 PMNot you. The OP does one strike, devils lair. Has never raided. Never done a weekly or nightfall. He wants Bungie to make a patrol only game I think which is absurd. His headline states "PvE" yet he hasn't even fully explored that side of the game and is gonna complain about it.

Ok. My mistake then. And yes, doing nothing at all but patrols would be quite boring.
