Think about it: they had a system where you exchange materials for marks. Now you exchange marks for materials. If you earn a bunch of vanguard marks and buy materials, it would break the system if you could then turn those materials in for crucible marks. Instead of running around on patrols for hours, you farm the crucible or you farm the strike playlist. It's definitely an improvement if you ask me; you're in the 1%.

 • You could convert 100 vanguard marks to 25 crucible marks, if they had left the previous material exchange in place. That's hardly game breaking.

 • That's a minimum of 9 matches. Getting 9 matches worth of crucible marks without playing crucible seems silly to me. Bump that up to the 200 vangaurd max and you have 18 matches of crucible under your belt without ever touching it.

 • Sure, I understand that the Crucible is tied to the Factions story - but they left that story out of the game, so we return to the question: Why force PvE players to play PvP, when they are clearly making it easier for PvP players to avoid PvE? Is it so difficult to gather some resources and chests from a planet when you are on patrol, or even during a story mission or strike for that matter? If you gather resources during patrol, it can literally take you less than 10 minutes to gather 20 resources (especially if you find a chest that contains 10 or 12 at a time). Seeming silly, goes both ways - It's the logic of the situation that is truly elusive.

 • As much as I love running around in circles shooting the same guys in the face and holding X every minute, it gets old very quick. Especially when you need 60+ of one material. I could deal with this, but I'm happy that they added an alternative. It's sort of like the loot cave. They got rid of one way of consistently getting engrams but at the same time they bumped up the engrams that dropped in the playlist. In this case they got rid of one way to earn crucible marks, and I hope that they add an incentive to earn them in the future for those of you who relied on this method. As far as I'm concerned: if I need vangaurd marks, I play the strike playlist. If I need crucible marks, I play the crucible. I believe this is what they intended in the first place, and now that you can just buy materials with marks, that method became too convenient (though I understand that it's not that much of a bump) so they got rid of it. I understand your side better and hope you guys get something to help boost your pve experience again, but I'm just going to keep on keeping on.
As far as I'm concerned: if I need vangaurd marks, I play the strike playlist. If I need crucible marks, I play the crucible.
I also do this, but I feel for those who don't want to. IMO at the end of the day, they should just get a Vault team assembled and forget about the cruddy faction gear. If you have the patience for farming, the Vault has the richest soil in the game.
I understand your side better and hope you guys get something to help boost your pve experience again, but I'm just going to keep on keeping on.
Thanks for the intelligent exchange.

 • May be but I could max out crucible marks in less than 2 minutes with what I farm doing patrols weekly. Who cares how someone plays a game. It may be the worst way but I like it. It was part of the game and didn't impact anyone else. Why remove a feature that didn't cause any problems? Why remove it if only a few used it? All I hear from the other side is demeaning, putrid replies about how I should play the game. I thought Destiny was a game that you decide how to play it. Now it removed an option, all be it tedious to some, that limits how we can play and acquire standard legendary items, NOT Crucible exclusive items. Prove to me the items sold by any vendor has specific mods/perks for PvP only. I don't care if you think the items suck, I don't. Other than to force you to play the Crucible, no other reason has been given.

 • I have nothing against the way you want to play the game, and I'm not attempting to tell you that your way is wrong. The fact is that that way to play is gone. It was my least favorite part of the game and it's gone. This is a good thing to me. I can understand now how that's upsetting but I also think it makes sense to play an activity relevant to the currency to earn the currency. When they got rid of the loot cave, they bumped up the amount of engrams that dropped in the playlist. That was removing one way to play, but giving incentive for another area. I hope that they add incentive for those of you who used to farm for marks because they removed a way to play the game. I guess we'll see. Good luck to you.
