Because you shouldn't be able to get crucible rep and rewards without playing the crucible.
They need to allow vanguard marks to purchase from faction vendors, but crucible gear should require crucible play.

I agree with you. If you can improve your faction rep through doing PvE events, you should be able to buy their gear with vanguard marks as well.
-
Why should they allow vanguard marks to work for factions too? You're just as bad as the guy who posted this thread! I would be pissed if I was at rank 15 in a faction and someone like you who shows no loyalty to anyone can get my factions gear... Doesn't make sense.
-
You would still have to rank up with the faction by wearing their item and doing bounties, same as it is now. The factions are not pvp specific, the crucible is.
-
Well, ranking up the faction isn't. But buying the faction gear is.
-
But it shouldn't be, because the goals of each faction are not linked to the crucible. If I wear a faction item in pvp or pve I get rep for that faction, so the marks earned should be spendable at those vendors, provided I have the rank.
-
The different crucible activities do have descriptions of the different factions. But I'm really playing devils advocate :p
-
As am I. The different patrol missions are sponsored by different factions as well.

I don't even know why I'm bothering crucible gear is garbage anyway.
