They removed the feature because it was a stupid feature to begin with. The majority of players didn't even use it.
Think about it... 200 relic iron for 20 marks...
Who would farm marks like this to avoid playing cruicble? Honestly complete waste of time.

-blam!- off. I don't want to pvp. end of story. Don't tell me what to do or how to play.

Well now that I am an adult I don't have to eat brussell sprouts. I don't think that is being stubborn, I call it free choice.
-
Instead, it encourages the player to leave Destiny and play something else, or just ruin PvP for the others by simply standing idle in the Crucible. I don't see it as a win-win situation here, sorry.

So vanguard gear isn't viable? It doesn't matter what gear you have right now the end goal is to get raid gear regardless of what perks they have.
-
For me at least, it's more about having options on how my gear looks, or getting a specific set of bonuses. Like how the vanguard gear no longer supports auto rifles.
-
I don't ill the pvp the only reason I do it is the exotic bounty
-
No, it encourages them to afk farm mats.

I've already bought the dead orbit helmet and chestplate. I was most of the way to buying a gun when this update screwed me over. And all of it, except for a brief exploration of PVP was from selling mats.

Same here.. Dead Orbit Chests and Arms, was saving up for the legs as I use an Exotic helmet.... Now its all ruined. What was more annoying is that I hadn't read the update notes, so I was in auto pilot when I went to hand the materials in, clicked it once and noticed something different.... lost 10 marks I had acquired from farming and now even further away from getting the Dead Orbit legs.
