Thorn, even with it's previously slow handling and shallow cylinder, was manageable in PvP. Now with it's recent buff, lots of people are going to want to try it out again.
It shouldn't surprise anyone to see that it's really good now, because it was never really that bad.

Has the Thorn's DoT been boosted back to 7 in PvP?
-
I asked someone this in another thread; yes, it has.
-
Awesome! I was worried since the patch just talked about PvE. May not be the best gun, but it's fun as hell.
-
Lol just wait till you see the damage in pve per dot tick.. It's 62-81 per tick. 62 on bosses and elites I believe and one chest shot will bleed out most annoying basic mobs
It shouldn't surprise anyone to see that it's really good now, because it was never really that bad.
This. I've been using it since launch.

Correct. I think alot of people jumped on the thorn band wagon and said it was crap because everyone else did. I got the thorn pre patch and even with no perks after 30 mins it was already one of my favourite handcannons despite having TLW and other legendary handcannons, and had no problem getting 2 kds in pvp without perks and killing stuff in pve. That damage along with its range and accuracy are some of the highest out of any other handcannon besides hawkmoon range. Thorn still has better accuracy tho i think

I just got lucky and acquired Fatebringer from the VoG, is that a competitive weapon to use in the crucible? How does it stand with the higher tier weapons as it stands post patch?
-
it has only risen to take my exotic slot once more
-
I beat Suros with it pre-nerf, most people could lol. 2nd best HC in game imo.
-
I banked my fully maxed Last Word to use my almost maxed, "broke" version of Thorn all through Iron Banner & ever since.
-
I didn't feel it was second best before; the slow handling and shallow cylinder ensured that for me. Now? Definitely - only to Hawkmoon.
-
What about Fatebringer, would it be Hawkmoon, Thorn, then Fatebringer, post patch? I just got that and wonder if I should level up my Thorn or Fatebringer first to try out in the crucible.
-
I don't have Fatebringer, so I can't make an opinion on it. I've heard great stuff about it though.
-
Hmm. Fatebringer would free up an exotic slot. Though, I suppose that would only matter if your preferred special or heavy weapon is an exotic. But, how could pass up on the utility of being able to shoot someone and letting the damage numbers tell you where they are when they try to hide?

That is actually a pretty damn awesome feature now for Thorn. You can either expect what the player is doing, since they are highlighted when being damaged and or call out to team mates on the enemies location, so they can keep an eye out for that location, while you go take care of someone else.
