I can totally relate. I hate pvp and liked to sell mats. I farmed mats while farming public events and chests, now it's completely pointless for me to do patrol.
I just don't get why they removed it. I mean what is the harm in leaving it? It's not like you could abuse it to gain extra marks or mats using both systems.
How am I supposed to create my own legacy/destiny (or whatever they say we are supposed to do) when Bungie is clearly doing it for me ?

Because it is now much easier to gain mats. Maybe they should have kept the trade-in option but put a limit on it

I think it was easier to get mats before this change.
I think it was easier to get mats before this change.
You think it was easier to get the materials before they were handed out as a reward for patrols and dailies and purchaseable with vanguard and crucible marks? Erm, ok!
-
Yup. I could collect way more material in the time it takes me to do 2 strikes for the marks to purchase them.
Yup. I could collect way more material in the time it takes me to do 2 strikes for the marks to purchase them.
And what's changed since the patch then? Can't you collect them in the same way anymore?
-
I can't sell them
I can't sell them
You said it was easier to get mats before the patch. Which is what I am disputing. I think you meant it was easier to get marks before the patch - yes, I'd agree I that one.

I meant in relation to their new method.

With the exchange rates being what they are it's not like you could abuse them for rep. I liked running around doing patrols, looking for chests, materials and public events. They even took away the option of ascendance materials for the first gold completion of the day. Instead now you get a mote of light, which is the most useless currency in game apart from glimmer. I understand they needed to make buying materials available for people that hate farming them, but this patch seriously screwed the way I like to play the game.
