A BIG F-U to PvE Players, Thanks Bungie

EDIT #1 BEGIN - Summary for those who missed the OP long a$$ complaint: Removal of material exchange for vendor reputation and marks generated this post. Using a Day 1 feature NOT exploit to access and buy legendary gear and avoid PvP for personal reasons. EDIT #1 END First we get a ton of mods to fix the PvP whining resulting in PvE nerfs, then 2 PvP events to 1 PvE but still more PvE nerfs. Now take away more access to vendor weapons and armor to those of us who HATE PvP with a passion. I was fine farming for material and purchase Crucible items even though it was daunting. Never complained since I could avoid PvP. What the heck was the logic behind removing material exchange for Crucible rep and marks? I never saw any posts or complaints about resource exchange. If anything, it kept PvP haters like me away from ruining PvP games even more than they are already. If this game was advertised as a PvP centric game with a scarce PvE element that would take a back seat to everything PvP I would have passed on it like I did with Titanfall and other PvP games. Either bring back the material exchange for Crucible marks and rep, open all vendors to accept both currencies or I'll just play PvP to piss as many off as possible to obtain a K/D of 0.00. If your going to ruin PvE, I'll do my part to ruin PvP as best that I can. Maybe I'll even be stoked to play Iron Banner 3.0 and shoot for the #1 spot in the worst PvP of all time. Just as you have people that hate PvE, from reading the posts for the past couple of months, you have more that hate PvP. Please tell us now that Destiny is 80% PvP and 20% PvE so we know where you stand. All I know is after waiting and hoping Bungie would bring some love to PvE, all we got was a third and fourth kick in the balls. After the expansion is released and there is still no resolution to this horrible PvE treatment, I'll waste my extra time playing even more like a complete noob in PvP just to piss as many people off as possible. I'll highly recommend that others who feel the same do too. If this was just "another" unintended side effect from a patch I may feel bad for ranting. If not, enjoy the last $ you'll see from me or anyone else who feels the same way. If there is some great addition in the expansion to nullify this rant I truly apologize in advance. BTW, it might help to post a list of the 100 worst PvP Guardians in your app. I would like to try and make the top 10 of that list.

You are missing one simple thing here. All the best guns and armor comes from PvE via the raid, nightfall, or heroic (as in strange coins to use with xur). Everything the vendors sell is crap compared to raid and exotic weapons and armor. You really want to run around in circles for hours for a few marks? It would take like all day just to get enough marks for leg armor, much less a helmet or a gun. I don't get it, I've hardly ever used the mat exchange, that is probably why they removed it, because most people never used it. I used all my materials leveling up raid guns. And that was too much farming for me. I would much rather buy my materials. Never had any left over to trade for marks. Not to mention I never had any need for much of anything from the vendors. Usually just bought stuff to break down into shards to level raid and exotic armor.

I suspect they couldn't make it easier to get materials and still have materials traded for marks. It's make it too easy/quick to get those crucible marks I guess. It just sucks that now all those PVP items on virtually all the vendors in the Tower are only there for people who PVP now. If there is any question as to whether this is a PVP game or a PVE game, look at the number of vendors in the tower that require crucible marks for wepaons/armor and those that require vanguard marks for weapons/armor. It's not right. It should be a PVE game with PVP tacked on. Not the other way around.

          • Is there honestly anything -that- amazing from the faction vendors that you're getting this upset? You can get pretty similar stuff from the Vanguard, but honestly, all of the good weapons are from the rank up package. The armor is just there to tide you over til raid gear, ya know, the PvE set that is the only way to actually get 30. As far as events I could probably guarantee that if the Queen's Wrath wasn't so horribly executed we would have seen a second version of it. So their original plan most likely wasn't for a 2:1 ratio. But, just to point out that is one singular event more. One. Take it easy and enjoy what PvE content there is, but stop acting like having optional gear that isn't even that great being tied to PvP is a horrible thing.

              • My biggest issue with these whining posts is this: what the hell do you NEED from crucible vendors? Honestly I haven't spent a crucible mark since I started playing up until I could buy mats with them. I have a thirty and two 29s. Why would I want the legendaries they sell?? They can't get me to 30 and I get enough weapons from the raid/nightfalls/engrams or even the vanguard vendor that I don't need four extra legendary vendors. To summarize: YOU DON'T NEED CRUCIBLE MARKS.

And your protest is to feed kills to players in PvP and make THEM score better? I have a better approach... might give it a try...
Don't like PVP, don't play PVP.
• Vanguard marks are obtained via weekly and nightfall events (I think daily events too). Also from strike playlist. No PvP required.

                  • PvE players have the raid. For those who prefer PvP, we got screwed in the sense we can't get mats to upgrade OUR gear without going out of our comfort zone and PvEing. This is more than fair. If you want Crucible gear, plau crucible, don't cry that you want certain gear but don't want to do what is needed to get it. The only change I would suggest to Bungie is make faction vendors accept Vanguard marks as well, as my Titan is PvE primarily but my Hunter and Warlock are PvP oriented, so I haven't done any faction stuff on said Titan

If you don't play Crucible you shouldn't be able to get Crucible marks. There was no way for people who only play crucible to get vanguard marks so this seems like the fair thing to do. If you refuse to play a portion of a game that is your right but don't expect to get the full experience and all the loot when you do that.

Keep the mats for sale and just accept both forms of Marks Currency for vendor purchases... problem solved! Honestly it's scary to think they weren't smart enough to come up with that on their own... smh :/

                        • I've been seeing a few of these posts pop up regarding the changes to material exchange, and it most definitely feels like we have a few people essentially coming out of the woodwork on the issue. I love the new material exchange, it's saved me tons of time and I've already used it a half dozen times. I used material exchange, in its previous state, once. Giving fifty materials for what I believe was 5 marks was a horrible exchange, considering the amount of time it took to get 50 mats was significantly more than it took to get 5 marks. It never once occurred to me that for some players this would be their only method for earning those marks, considering how incredibly inefficient and time consuming it would be. These players should not be forced to play the PvP if they really don't want to. That being said, they also shouldn't be barred from obtaining faction gear, especially considering that the factions only involvement in the game is providing patrol missions, a strictly PvE element. So in short, I like the new material exchange, but faction vendors should accept both types of marks since they have no involvement in the PvP side but do play a very minor role in PvE. The crucible vendors should only accept crucible marks, vanguard vendors should only accept vanguard marks, but there's absolutely no reason for the others to be picky.

                          • There is only one faction for vanguard, and FOUR for Crucible. That alone is ridiculous. Now, they remove a legitimate method of gaining crucible marks without disrupting the pvp masochists, and I can understand why people are upset. There's a very limited selection of vendor weapons, and limiting pve players to less than half of the vendors should never have happened in the first place.

                            • I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

                                    • I hate PVP too, and there's a simple solution to your problem. Don't buy crucible gear. If you love PvE as much as I do, earn your vanguard marks to buy vanguard gear and then save your materials for upgrading that gear instead of trading 50 materials (3 upgrades worth) for under 5 crucible marks. Not worth it, and crucible gear is ugly anyways.
