If material exchange was put back in, you could just buy mats with marks, put them in the vault, and exchange them back for marks on another character, completely bypassing actually playing to get gear on alt characters. This is not the way the game is meant to be played.

Man! well said. I totally agree with you. I hate PvP also. Why do we have to complete a Pvp mission just to unlock a gun? Like that Fusion rifle mission for PvP, you know the one where you have to get a ridiculous amount of kills in PvP for the Pocket Infinity rifle. What B.S.

There are three main problems with it: 1) The only "crucible" weapons in the game are the ones exclusive to crucible drops or the crucible vendors. Just like a Dead Orbit weapon is only available from Dead Orbit. They're just another manufacturer. By this logic, you should only earn Dead Orbit marks for Dead Orbit weapons. 2) Yes, some weapons are better in PvP than PvE. Guess what - some of them are made by the Vanguard. So, there goes that theory. 3) If anything, the various factions should take Vanguard marks since they are the ones responsible for patrol missions (not Crucible matches). Personally, I never sold my mats for marks because I found it faster to just do a strike or public event. But if people really enjoyed farming patrols - I don't see any valid reason not to reward them for it. Bungie themselves say they want to "expand your play". It would be nice to see them actually do that.

It's a first person shooter...why would not expect PVP to play a large part. I'm not great at PVP, but I do well enough to go positive most matches, and I enjoy it a lot more than mindlessly fighting AI opponents with completely predictable movements.

I would like to see class items that convert rep from vanguard to whatever faction also convert vanguard marks into crucible marks and vice versa.

I can say that I agree. I was on almost every waking hour, since update I've been on for 3 hours tops lol. Too much PVP favoritism

Since crucible vendors have some armor with the bonuses that im looking for, this change will force me into crucible. I do enjoy some game's pvp, such as bf4, however, Destiny's pvp is garbage and i try to avoid it. Forcing me to play this pvp will result in me being lazy, trolling, or generically not caring about winning because i do not want to be there. Id much rather farm mats to exchange for marks.

Concur100% about the material exchange. People need to realize it was a replacement AND a reduction. It used to be 50 mats for 5 marks and 25 rep. Now it's 10 marks for 20 mats. This is made worse by the fact materials are much more abundant now as mission rewards and bounty rewards. Same thing applies to the exotics... Where did you guys see a buff and not a trade?

I spend the majority of my time playing PvE, and I love the update. Who likes grinding for mats anyways? I'd rather do strikes and buy the mats. As for the Crucible rep.... Playing the Crucible for Crucible rep makes sense to me. The bounties are easy enough too. If you're so bad at a FPS that even that is impossible, play something else.

Your annoyed I get that but purposely going into to crucible and playing badly on purpose achieves what ? Your issue is with bungie and not the players who do find PvP enjoyable. If your that angry sell the game and move on to something else. Games are supposed to be about escapism and fun. Find a game that gives you enjoyment rather than one that makes you play badly on purpose to spite other people who are not at fault.

And to think, I was excited for this update. I was hoping to trade my Vanguard marks for materials, then trade the materials for Crucible marks. Sure, the trade rate would be horrible, but it would be a great boost to help those who hate PvP but want PvP weapons to reduce the time they would need to spend in the Crucible to get said marks to buy the weapons. I hate PvP, but do it to get the weapons since it is obvious the best weapons are/and will be sold by factions/crucible. On a side note, did anyone notice in the first week you would get more marks in PvP than you do now? I could have sworn it was 6 per win, 4 per loss. Now it's half and much slower to get all 100 per week.

This game was actually a F-U to PvP players. Nobody plays crucible. Bad maps, boring gametypes, one-sided battles. No rewards. The people who do play it come on here and rant about it. They are -by far- the ones who are losing. Nobody cares about your destiny KD PvE & raid gear FTW

No you cant call the BEST WORSE PLAYER I ALREADY DID LOL ..... I feel the same way I did not get DESTINY for PvP that's what I play HALO for and I am pretty good at it by the way after a very long time .... I think the way I play PvP will be the same trust me when I say that making things bad for other players is the last thing I want but BUNGIE kinda pushed PvE players in a corner was happy staying out of PvP getting my marks grinding material but they did not want that instead they make it so we have to play PvP for the marks for reasons without a answer makes no sense at all ....

I miss the mats for marks . Since they have taken this away I have only opened about 10 chests as don't want the materials . What am I supposed to do with my 600 spin metal and 200+ spirit bloom and helium filaments as can't get the ascendant shards to go with them for levelling up my gear . I suck at PVP try to do the exotic bounties 2 weeks on and off for invective and have got 3 out of 25 keep resetting back to 0 after a bad game . (There all bad for me lol) crucible rep is still level 1 not a chance of getting the crucible bounties . But I love some of their gear . PVE on the other hand I love enjoyed farming doing bounties and public events do them daily and the daily heroic . Need some friends to do the weekly's with few and far between for an old man like me . Any offers for friends list accepted . GT same as on here andysivyer .

i agree, i cant pvp due to the stress. Even if i try not to care you would be surprised how often i get hate mail because im not that good at it >>. And hardly since i use a hand cannon on my titan i NEED pvp gear for the additional ammo. So yea...bungie loves -blam!-ing those who hate pvp. Its bad enough most weapon bounty's force PVP down your throat like it is the day before the turkey goes bad >>

I actually appreciate it. Now I can spend marks on stuff I could use rather than let them sit there at 200. They're rather useless once you start getting gear from raids or engrams...

I feel like them taking this away is setting the game up for accepting both marks for faction vendors. Crucible handler and quartermaster will probably only accept crucible marks. DeeJ did say in a recent post that there will be more use for your marks. Have a little faith.
