A BIG F-U to PvE Players, Thanks Bungie
EDIT #1 BEGIN - Summary for those who missed the OP long a$$ complaint:
Removal of material exchange for vendor reputation and marks generated this post.
Using a Day 1 feature NOT exploit to access and buy legendary gear and avoid PvP for personal reasons.

First we get a ton of mods to fix the PvP whining resulting in PvE nerfs, then 2 PvP events to 1 PvE but still more PvE nerfs.
Now take away more access to vendor weapons and armor to those of us who HATE PvP with a passion. I was fine farming for material and purchase Crucible items even though it was daunting. Never complained since I could avoid PvP.
What the heck was the logic behind removing material exchange for Crucible rep and marks?
I never saw any posts or complaints about resource exchange. If anything, it kept PvP haters like me away from ruining PvP games even more than they are already.
If this game was advertised as a PvP centric game with a scarce PvE element that would take a back seat to everything PvP I would have passed on it like I did with Titanfall and other PvP games.
Either bring back the material exchange for Crucible marks and rep, open all vendors to accept both currencies or I'll just play PvP to piss as many off as possible to obtain a K/D of 0.00.
If your going to ruin PvE, I'll do my part to ruin PvP as best that I can. Maybe I'll even be stoked to play Iron Banner 3.0 and shoot for the #1 spot in the worst PvP of all time.
Just as you have people that hate PvE, from reading the posts for the past couple of months, you have more that hate PvP.
Please tell us now that Destiny is 80% PvP and 20% PvE so we know where you stand.
All I know is after waiting and hoping Bungie would bring some love to PvE, all we got was a third and fourth kick in the balls.
After the expansion is released and there is still no resolution to this horrible PvE treatment, I'll waste my extra time playing even more like a complete noob in PvP just to piss as many people off as possible.
I'll highly recommend that others who feel the same do too.
If this was just "another" unintended side effect from a patch I may feel bad for ranting. If not, enjoy the last $ you'll see from me or anyone else who feels the same way.
If there is some great addition in the expansion to nullify this rant I truly apologize in advance.
BTW, it might help to post a list of the 100 worst PvP Guardians in your app. I would like to try and make the top 10 of that list.

I'm just going to sit in pvp doing almost nothing and go play my pc just to earn them. Doesn't hurt me tbh. But I'm a layed back kind of guy too 😎

It's meant for those who want to play exclusively pve. The faction vendors and crucible vendors are for those who want to play both pve and pvp. Bungies design philosophy was around people playing both pvp and pve so it makes sense that the majority of the vendors are for those players. They still accommodate to pve exclusive players with the vanguard vendors. If you don't want to play crucible at all then you don't deserve the crucible or faction gear, you deserve the vanguard gear. All that being said, I think it would be a smart move by bungie to allow faction gear to be purchased with vanguard marks as well. Would satisfy you pvers

They had to remove it for now. Or people like me would abuse it for easy experience gains. I have mark currently that are useless to me. If I could still turn in resources I would use those marks to buy resources only to immediately turn them in to level weapons. I'm sure the turn in for marks will be brought back once they remove the experience/glimmer gains.

Though I do understand why they took the material to crucible marks exchange away. It just doesn't work with the new material for vanguard marks system. I understand that you might not like Crucible, but that's how you get the marks. To be honest, that's the only way you should be able to get the marks. It only makes sense that Crucible marks come from competing in the Crucible.

While I detest pvp personally, I view it as a necessity. PvE is all about grinding, and people don't care for that. I loved the raid. I loved the nightfall and weekly. I found the story missions to be ok(last boss was pathetic, but that's another rant). But that will only last people for so long. PvP is there to keep people playing and interested in between these things, and in between the DLCs. With the resource change, I now have less reason to play currently. I only played last week to do the nightfall and weekly on my characters, as I have nothing left from VoG that I really want/need, and I had no gear I was grinding to level. Week before I spent a few hours grinding out various resources for gear upgrades. That's a few hours I won't need to spend next time. Without pvp, there simply is no need for people to long in constantly, and bungie wants people to keep playing. Hence, Crucible will always have a lot of their focus.

4 RepliesI see a lot of ppl are upset with this change and now having to earn crucible marks by playing crucible. I am surprised how many ppl would farm for materials only to trade in for marks. I did it twice and thought it was horribly boring and thought the exchange rate was horrible too. I thought the update was great because now I don't have to farm. I get materials from doing dailies, I think I also got some from turning in patrol bounties, and if I still don't have what I need I just buy the materials. I pretty much have all the weapons I could want and get plenty of marks from just doing weekly and daily strikes with three characters. So it is nice that now I can just play the game instead of picking flowers. I do enjoy pvp too and really think it brings a fresh twist on most FPS pvp games that I like. I do think there should be an exchange between vanguard and crucible marks. I think a 2 to 1 ratio would be good. That way it still encourages ppl to play both pvp and pve, which I think bungie is trying to promote. Honestly though the best faction and crucible gear I have gotten has always been from random rolls from either faction leveling up or the cryptard. I do think it will be funny when I start seeing more ppl going afk or dancing in the crucible. I would love to see two teams go into a dance off.

3 RepliesAlthough I don't mind the pvp I much prefer the pve side so I kinda agree that it's a tad stupid to remove the swapping of mats for crucible marks. What they should do is leave crucible vendor as crucible marks. Vanguard as vanguard marks and open up the faction vendors to either. I honestly can't understand why they haven't done this already?

Crucible/vanguard marks are worthless. All you could do was blow 65 for 2 shards or 150 for 2 energy. Why would you want to spend 50 materials on 5 marks?? I agree that the crucible is terrible and the complaints from it have drastically devalued the entertainment of PvE (mytho) but farming relic iron blows man

Just because it was possible before with the material exchange doesn't mean that it wasn't a bad idea. That's like a PvP only player complaining he has to play the raid to get the best weapons and gear. If you want something do what's required if not stop bitching. [spoiler]I play a crap ton of Destiny both PvP and PvE so don't think I favor one over the other[/spoiler]

This post sums up my experience with the latest patch pretty well. Also, I collected the mats just so I could trade in for marks. I'm in a position where I don't need to get mats for gear & weapon upgrades, so what else was going to use them for?

1 ReplyYeah, and if I find you in a game I'll be sure to report you. Anyway, they removed this so people wouldn't farm Rep/Marks with the new system. It was a bad deal anyway. 50 materials for 5 marks? Lol. No. If you ever did that then you're pretty dumb. Materials are worth WAY more than that, seeing as how they upgrade your most valuable gear. If you hate PVP so much, then why build Rep/Marks for it? PVE and PVP weapons and gear almost have zero difference (and you shouldn't really need it because of Raid weapons and gear). This game is PVE dominant. You get the best weapons (Raid), the best gear (Raid), and tons of content to play through (Weekly, Daily, Story Missions, Strike Playlists, etc.). If anytjing, this game is 80% PVE and 20% PVP.

3 RepliesThis is a legitimate concern. Much of this patch is hot steaming bullshit served to us on a silver platter. As someone used to MMO grinding, mats have never been a problem for me nor anyone I play with. A very vocal minority seemed to be incapable of settling in to a chest and node farming route and instead spent time they could've been farming on flooding this forum with shitposts about how horrible farming was. It is a testament to Bungie's lack of direction that they chose to change fundamental portions of the game on response to this crap. Instead, you can grind out 50 wins to the tune of 15 mins per, or 12.5 hours of pvp (best case, longer if you lose any matches) just for one weapon.
