A BIG F-U to PvE Players, Thanks Bungie

EDIT #1 BEGIN - Summary for those who missed the OP long a$$ complaint: Removal of material exchange for vendor reputation and marks generated this post. Using a Day 1 feature NOT exploit to access and buy legendary gear and avoid PvP for personal reasons. EDIT #1 END First we get a ton of mods to fix the PvP whining resulting in PvE nerfs, then 2 PvP events to 1 PvE but still more PvE nerfs. Now take away more access to vendor weapons and armor to those of us who HATE PvP with a passion. I was fine farming for material and purchase Crucible items even though it was daunting. Never complained since I could avoid PvP. What the heck was the logic behind removing material exchange for Crucible rep and marks? I never saw any posts or complaints about resource exchange. If anything, it kept PvP haters like me away from ruining PvP games even more than they are already. If this game was advertised as a PvP centric game with a scarce PvE element that would take a back seat to everything PvP I would have passed on it like I did with Titanfall and other PvP games. Either bring back the material exchange for Crucible marks and rep, open all vendors to accept both currencies or I'll just play PvP to piss as many off as possible to obtain a K/D of 0.00. If your going to ruin PvE, I'll do my part to ruin PvP as best that I can. Maybe I'll even be stoked to play Iron Banner 3.0 and shoot for the #1 spot in the worst PvP of all time. Just as you have people that hate PvE, from reading the posts for the past couple of months, you have more that hate PvP. Please tell us now that Destiny is 80% PvP and 20% PvE so we know where you stand. All I know is after waiting and hoping Bungie would bring some love to PvE, all we got was a third and fourth kick in the balls. After the expansion is released and there is still no resolution to this horrible PvE treatment, I'll waste my extra time playing even more like a complete noob in PvP just to piss as many people off as possible. I'll highly recommend that others who feel the same do too. If this was just "another" unintended side effect from a patch I may feel bad for ranting. If not, enjoy the last $ you'll see from me or anyone else who feels the same way. If there is some great addition in the expansion to nullify this rant I truly apologize in advance. BTW, it might help to post a list of the 100 worst PvP Guardians in your app. I would like to try and make the top 10 of that list.

  • The reality of the situation is that it's more profitable and much easier to cater towards PVP than PVE. Think about it, you want someone to buy a map pack, release a single map, see if people like it and then release a map pack. Plus I can only guess it takes a fraction of the time to make a map in crucible than it does to make an area for a raid, or plan a PVE event or patch up PVE bugs that obviously need to be fixed. It sucks, I know, I want more PVE, but profit 90% of the time trumps all in this and every other business. Want more? Pay the $35 for the expansion pass and move on, hard truth, but it is what it is...

  • You keep saying that Bungie has ruined pve, but you never say how other than these mysterious "nerfs" you're referring to. I'm a majority pve player and I don't feel the mode has been ruined or nerfed or anything. It seems just as excellent as it always was. So what if you can't trade materials for crucible marks? You're supposed to PLAY THE CRUCIBLE to get those marks and the rep along with them. And let me tell you, Destiny's pvp is also pretty damn good when you stack it up to any pvp-centric game. Go play COD:AW for 30 minutes and then tell me that Destiny's pvp isn't 100 times better.

      • Ok, I love PvE, it's my favorite game mode. But I'm not stupid enough to spend hours runing around in circles just to collect 200 materials just so I can get 20 crucible marks, and 100 crucible rep. It's just much easier and not a complete waste of my time to just lose 10 games in not even 2 hours to get just as much, if not more.

How did you get cruc marks if you never played PvP? I mean the added time farming for marks is a waste of time imo. Much faster and less boring to just play pvp

        • I, too, have not played much Pvp except IB or for exotic bounties. The patch does not bother me though. With the weekly Xur, nightfall, raid, and engram rewards, the pvp faction vendors really have nothing I want to buy. This may change with the DLC? I was already spending my marks on weapons and just dismantling them for energy when they hit 200 cap. Now at least I can buy materials with the marks when they cap out.

I personally enjoy PVE more than PVP, though I play both. I'm not very good at it, though I've gotten better than I was at first (granted, that's somewhat akin to being the thinnest kid at fat camp). I could not even IMAGINE farming enough material to buy Crucible/Faction gear. I was sick of farming the mats for the gear I already had, let alone trading 50 of those precious mats for a paltry 5 Crucible marks. So yes, I was VERY happy to see that they made the mark-mat economy changes. However, I would never criticize someone for the way they choose to play. If you hate PVP to the point where you'd rather run around farming for countless hours rather than try to get better at PVP, then that is your choice. I'm sorry they decided to take away your route to Crucible marks, however unpopular it might have been. But just remember, every time you join a 6v6 PVP match and go AFK in order to "piss people off", you're making 5 people (the ones on your team) angry, but you're giving 6 people (the other team) their Crucible marks even faster, so I'm not sure that you're going to accomplish very much with this form of protest.

          • Purposely trying to attain a kid of 0.0 because they removed a very small and mostly worthless part of the game is like throwing a tantrum in the toy isle because mommy and daddy won't buy you a new toy. Maybe they didn't want people taking advantage of gaining a huge amount of rep with mats, Now that you can buy a shit load of mats. Also when you say they hate pvp, they literally just had an entire update and event catering to pvp. But either way gaining rep and marks is a very easy thing to do without trading mats for rep. Overall it's really no big deal, please stop crying.

            • 80/20 is quite the exaggeration, especially for a game that's about to get another raid in a week or so. I don't see why they removed the option to get crucible stuff from the resource trade, but it always seemed unnecessary to me and was rarely discussed. It's not that offensive. Why do players need crucible gear, just curious because I've been ignoring it since day 1. I thought the other faction had enough gear for us.

              • PVE? You didn't complete the raid a single time...all you did was patrol. You bought this game and played only 30% of it... Bungie f**k'd you as soon as you paid for this game on pre-order. PVE...lmao, what pve element are there...strikes over and over and running around on planets with nothing to do but shoot level 12 enemies that spawn from the same caves and the occasional activities that appears? There are no interesting questline, no story, no incentives...go get dragon age if you want to PVE lol

                  • You sir, need to rethink with logic. First off PvP Gear. "PvP". You earn it via playing pvp rather than grinding for materials. Its all about principles. If you only like pve, then you have to say ok.. I can't get PvP items as they are only for those who play pvp. Basically The PVE vendor has almost shear identical weapons except some things are different. This means, if you can't face PVP then you don't deserve PVP gear at all. It was made for crucible and by crucible. So again... This is a poorly excuse for all PVE players who are bad at PVP no offense but if you don't like it, don't play it. THIS MEANS ASWELL NO LOOT FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU SAY YOU DONT LIKE IT. THATS THE SAME AS I DONT LIKE TO RAID BUT I WANT RAID GEAR. Seriously?

                  • You don't even play PvE. You play Patrol. (Where Patrol is a PvE, it is 1/3 of the PvE), and you have never tried a raid, and done less than 40 strikes among all your characters.
