A BIG F-U to PvE Players, Thanks Bungie

EDIT #1 BEGIN - Summary for those who missed the OP long a$$ complaint: Removal of material exchange for vendor reputation and marks generated this post. Using a Day 1 feature NOT exploit to access and buy legendary gear and avoid PvP for personal reasons. EDIT #1 END First we get a ton of mods to fix the PvP whining resulting in PvE nerfs, then 2 PvP events to 1 PvE but still more PvE nerfs. Now take away more access to vendor weapons and armor to those of us who HATE PvP with a passion. I was fine farming for material and purchase Crucible items even though it was daunting. Never complained since I could avoid PvP. What the heck was the logic behind removing material exchange for Crucible rep and marks? I never saw any posts or complaints about resource exchange. If anything, it kept PvP haters like me away from ruining PvP games even more than they are already. If this game was advertised as a PvP centric game with a scarce PvE element that would take a back seat to everything PvP I would have passed on it like I did with Titanfall and other PvP games. Either bring back the material exchange for Crucible marks and rep, open all vendors to accept both currencies or I'll just play PvP to piss as many off as possible to obtain a K/D of 0.00. If your going to ruin PvE, I'll do my part to ruin PvP as best that I can. Maybe I'll even be stoked to play Iron Banner 3.0 and shoot for the #1 spot in the worst PvP of all time. Just as you have people that hate PvE, from reading the posts for the past couple of months, you have more that hate PvP. Please tell us now that Destiny is 80% PvP and 20% PvE so we know where you stand. All I know is after waiting and hoping Bungie would bring some love to PvE, all we got was a third and fourth kick in the balls. After the expansion is released and there is still no resolution to this horrible PvE treatment, I'll waste my extra time playing even more like a complete noob in PvP just to piss as many people off as possible. I'll highly recommend that others who feel the same do too. If this was just "another" unintended side effect from a patch I may feel bad for ranting. If not, enjoy the last $ you'll see from me or anyone else who feels the same way. If there is some great addition in the expansion to nullify this rant I truly apologize in advance. BTW, it might help to post a list of the 100 worst PvP Guardians in your app. I would like to try and make the top 10 of that list.

  • Just play strikes and earn your vanguard marks through there. Do the raid, level up, and just run the hell out of vanguard tiger strikes. Simple as that. Stop complaining please.

This far into the game you're still buying vendor armor and weapons? You got bigger problems.

    • There's probably a better solution than reimplementing the selling of materials. Perhaps they should just make it so the factions accept crucible OR vanguard marks for gear? I think the original idea was for the factions to play a larger role in the pvp experience but since that all but got cut out there's not as much reason for them to only accept crucible marks

The ratio of material exchange to rep gains wasn't worth all the effort of putting in hours and hours of farming. That's the slowest way possible to raise your rep gains. 20 repfor every 50 materials you exchanged? You'll never get anywhere in your rep gains, you get 25 rep whether you win or lose in the Crucible. 31 if you have the Radiant Light buff, same goes for Tiger strikes. I'm only average in the Crucible, but I really don't care if I'm super TURRBLE or very good, win or lose, I'm getting my reputation and marks either way.

Sorry for the OP, but you probably represent a very small percentage of the population who plays the game this way. The shouldn't have gotten rid of the material exchange, but since materials are twice as easy to get now (if not more) they could have just nerfed the exchange and not get rid of it. To be honest OP, you're missing out on 90% of the game by playing strictly patrols. You probably represent 0.000001% of the population. Play the game however you want, but keep in mind that Bungie wants to keep a majority of the population happy.

      • Go into PvP and AFK, knowing how shit the loot system is you'll probably get a damn exotic or legendary. "You've got to earn your gear guardian"

        • Agreed. Used to DESPISE PvP, so much that one week I farmed 1,200 spirit bloom (no joke) to turn in at the crucible vendor for my weekly marks. Plus it gave you a substantial amount of xp per exchange :) I'm sad to see it gone

        • I agree, because I see your point. I do not like PvP, I greatly enjoy the PvE though. It also looks like to me they've nerfed the Public Events, making the RNG even harder to get lucky with. Also, out of the past 100+ chests I've opened, I've only gotten 3 or 4 blue engrams. Is this purposeful? I don't know. Your point is absolutely valid however. And, as a bit of encouragement, I feel like the PvE'ers are more reserved than the PvP'ers, and that's why you see even less of them on the forums. But inside all of us, there's a raging monster that just wants equality in a world where we don't HAVE to do PvP.

        • OP you raise a great point. To the posters who are rage-replying, I don't think you fully understand the situation (no offense intended here, just trying to clear it up). It seems whenever someone goes on a "rant" it's usually for a highly debatable context, this however, really isn't one of those cases. The OP is not asking for CRUCIBLE REP/MARKS for PvE tasks. That would be asking for a handout, and would deserve criticism. But again, this is not what the OP is requesting. Destiny currently has its vendors set up so that you can earn both faction and vanguard rep through PvE, but vanguard marks cannot be spent on faction gear. Why is this the case? In crucible your marks go for both crucible gear, and faction gear. This gives PvP players a lot more variety when selecting what pre-level 30 gear to purchase (or weapons they favor). Imo there are 3 solutions (the last would not be popular): 1) make vanguard marks a currency for factions so that PvE players can get more armor and weapon variety on par with PvP players. 2) take away the ability to earn some of the factions rep through PvE activities (i.e Dead Orbit/New Monarchy could be vanguard marks and FWC, etc. could be crucible). 3) Take away all ability to earn faction rep through vanguard activities to strengthen the message that factions are PvP oriented and have no opinions on what happens in the PvE elements (this doesn't make sense because, for obvious reasons, the factions would care about the PvE events as it directly effects them). Of all things left to fix in this game, this seems relatively easy to do, and theoretically wouldn't take much time to do so. Good thoughts OP, a lot of the rage-replies are either PvP fanatics, or have misunderstood your intent.

            • Agree with OP, I was happy farming mats and doing the little missions in PvE, playing the game the way I wanted to play it, I liked that I kept what I needed and could trade the rest to certain Tower vendors for marks, I'll still collect them just a pity that I can't trade them in anymore.

            • I know this is a rant post, but it is at least somewhat constructive. I wish they would implement weekly events for PvE and PvP. I'm no developer so shoot me if it's not possible, but when they said weekly events that's what I thought not sunning the same mission with modifiers. Although I'm not there yet it would be cool to have a Playlist that randomized nightfall modifiers for higher level players. I think so more love to the factions would be good as well. Unfortunately I think bungee thinks the long term legs of this game lie in the PvP element. I think they underestimated how separate the types of gaming are.

              • Crucible rep and marks should have to be earned in the crucible. Vanguard rep and marks are only earned in pve. The three factions are where things get messy, the vendors should either have a separate currency (which would be excessive) or accept both vanguard and crucible marks, while continuing to earn rep the way it is now. Selling mats should never have worked for crucible gear because it's not a crucible related activity. It's interesting that you consider 2 iron banners as pvp events, and queens wrath as the single pve event, but don't acknowledge how much pve stuff there is on a weekly basis already. Pvp doesn't have a daily with real rewards, a weekly, or a nightfall, nor do they have the raid (2 levels). Pve gets a new test weekly. As for weapon nerfs and buffs, they have to balance things out to keep everyone from falling into the same mold. This goes for pve and pvp.

              • Dude just play PvP. You can go like -30 and still get the marks and such that you need. And in 1h of PvP you can get more than 1h of farming (in terms of marks).

                  • The reality of the situation is that it's more profitable and much easier to cater towards PVP than PVE. Think about it, you want someone to buy a map pack, release a single map, see if people like it and then release a map pack. Plus I can only guess it takes a fraction of the time to make a map in crucible than it does to make an area for a raid, or plan a PVE event or patch up PVE bugs that obviously need to be fixed. It sucks, I know, I want more PVE, but profit 90% of the time trumps all in this and every other business. Want more? Pay the $35 for the expansion pass and move on, hard truth, but it is what it is...
