I do agree with you. This patch is just a big slap in the face of players who don't like to play the Crucible, whatever their reasons. Bungie just deleted the options to do only PvE yet have access to faction gear. Slowly but surely, they are killing any fun PvE players would still find in their game... Instead of enticing me to play PvP, this patch is simply giving me a reason to shelve it and move along. Thanks, Bungie, for a great ride while it lasted. Too bad you ended it too soon for us PvE players!
