It was something like 2 marks and 25 rep for 50 materials. I don't see the problem. It took way longer to farm 50 materials than gain 2 marks and 25 rep.

if you run missions and bounties at the same time or explored the planets then you have a lot of materials and i don't know about you I would rather not have to do a strike or play crucible for 2 marks or 1 rep

It's about having an alternative method to gain marks for faction vendors. Which we no longer have.

5 marks for 50 mats, and it's the only reason I even have faction gear.

I thought farming was fun. It was like an easter egg hunt, plus it was something to do while waiting for a public event to pop up.

Also doing Bounties and gun upgrades..plus the public events....a very good all around experience while farming

Yup, loved just running around and finding stuff.

The people who complained about farming were the ones who did nothing but farm for materials for hours and hours. When I'm in a Patrol mission I'm actually doing Bounties while collecting materials, I found the whole entire thing to be very pleasant.

I disagree, I think it was PVP scrubs who were complaining because they thought that PvE players could get better weapons in a shorter time.
