Are these issues not with MMO's in general though? Because Destiny does nothing different than most MMO's out there.

  • To an extent MMO are like that. But there is still plenty of other stuff to do. The gear grind is always there, but at least it is a fun grind. This just monotonous.

  • That's subjective, grinding is never fun. I agree that Destiny could do with more streamlined methods of acquiring gear though, such as more vendors or crafting. If I'm playing for 10 hours and my buddy gets RNG drops but I get nothing then I'm furious. If there were a way to craft gear or buy it with crazy amounts of money then maybe those 10 hours could've been spent doing that.

  • Well too, there is always a reward for the grind. Complete dungeon you get something. Then there is sometimes that really good piece of gear that has like a 2% cnahnce to drop. That ould be better than damn rng.

  • I'm sure a lot of us aren't mmo players. I've never played an mmo. I do, however, play fps games. We were told this game would be epic, but it's not. Not by a long shot.

  • I think that was the problem for me. I am not an MMO player so I expected the story/playability of an FPS with the addition of MMO like things. This game I think disappoints both types of players. Don't misunderstand the FPS mechanics are incredible but there is just a level of "ehh, so what" every time I get a drop or buy something. That said, I'll still be addicted to this game in 10 years barring two things, in which cast I will destroy Destiny the second this comes true. 1) Destiny 2 is a wipe and we have to start all over without our gear and characters (I read somewhere that Bungie said they are transferable) 2) Every DLC and additional game, Every Weapon becomes useless and vendors sell higher rated gear/weapons. (If this happens, to me it's like what is the point) - With gear, if Vanguard starts selling level 34 light gear one year down the road because Destiny 2 strikes start at level 30 and they cannot alienate gamers who purchase Destiny 2, why even try to get level 30 now or 32 when the DLC comes. - With weapons all these weapons (none of which I have) like the Gjallahorn, Ice Breaker, etc topped out have less damage than a standard "new" exotic, a year from now they will have to keep upping the damage to keep people purchasing their games and DLC so all of these weapons right now are much less useful (ie useless) once these DLCs come out.

  • I like MMO's(for the most part). Destiny's problem isn't that it's an MMO, it's problem is that it's LAZY. It's as though an exec watched people play an MMO, and thought, "Wait a minute! People will play the same lvl over and over just to win some new piece of gear?! I have the most amazing idea ever, and we're gonna be RICH!". Destiny is not the game I was looking for(and that was advertised). That being said, my initial disappointment has subsided (by necessity, I've already bought it) and I've accepted the game for what it is- a mix of shooting gallery and golf, and I've enjoyed it more. I won't be purchasing any subsequent releases, though: fool me once...
