The Activision Quarterly report provided numbers of 78% profit increase that was largely attributed to Destiny. CEO quoted that Destiny has performed beyond expectations. There are 9.5 million registered users though Activision has admitted that this doesn't equate to 9.5 million copies being sold since some have multiple profiles (i.e. more than one profile in a house using the same game copy). This single Destiny title has profit that covers the $500 million franchise investment. Any additional money pulled in at this point is pretty much profit. The next quarterly report will reveal how much numbers and sales have fallen off and how many bought the DLC which is what really matters, not how many people are still playing. The poor reviews actually saved Activision money since Bungie was getting a bonus with good reviews. Reviews don't mean anything though if people enjoy the game. Personally, I thought all of the reviews were junk with the complaints being nit-picky. "Huge volume of negative feedback" is relative. What negative feedback are you talking about? The bungie.net posts by maybe 10% of the community while the other 90% are enjoying playing the game? All games encounter a diminished player base. What matters is if the attrition is greater than the norm. What statistics do you have that indicate that the current attrition is an issue?
