"Beyond that, the user should not be restricted to playtime due to choice in television set
Simply put, this is irresponsible upon the part of Bungie. "
I disagree 100%. The user restricted themselves by purchasing or using a plasma in the first place. Bungie is not limiting you. The only ones irresponsible are the parents allowing gaming like this on their plasmas. There are plenty of cheap TVs out there, but you want bigger, so you are choosing to game on a tv known for burn problems when playing video games, pausing movies, etc.
You could be responsible, save a few bucks and buy a used 32 inch off brand LCD if this was really a problem for you. Apparently it's not that big an issue as you keep playing. If I had a plasma that was known for this issue I would limit game time to whatever would stop the burn in, or not use the plasma for gaming and buy a small LCD tv/ monitor to use.

Your view on developers and consumer relationships is flawed. They exist because we buy their product, thus our needs come first. I'd wager more than 1/10 players play on a plasma, for one reason or another. That's many, many millions of dollars. Adding a simple feature such as a HUD opacity fader would be addressing an issue that 1 in 10 may face. I own a small business in New Jersey, my father owns and runs multiple of his own in New York, the needs of 10% of your clients should be addressed with the utmost haste.

They can only cater to so many. Yes this sounds like an easy fix for the HUD, but where will it end. They change that and now you burned your screen while paused chasing the dog around the neighborhood. But that would be their fault too because they can make the game menus shift when idle for 10 minutes right? At some point you have to take responsibility for purchasing a plasma and know what to, and not to do.
