This is not a dev responsibility, this is a case of consumer being at fault; burn in has been a problem with plasma screens for years now, and any one who knows anything about TVs knows that this can occur, even with network emblems on tv, and knows how to prevent them.
Your decision to buy a plasma screen without knowing the risks or your refusal to use methods to prevent it puts you at risk.
Finally for anyone who hasn't realized this, plasma TVs are a horrible choice for gamers and if you use your tv primarily for this purpose you should buy LED LCD; it will save you money and give you better performance.

CNET.com, a site of professions tech reviewers much more educated than you or I, have a list of the best gaming TVs on the market, plasmas rank at the top of this list due to detail in motion, refresh rates, low input lag, and contrast. I did an extraordinary amount of research on my purchase before hand, and played hundreds of hours of Battlefield 4 with no problems, strictly due to the simple addition of an opacity slider. This is absolutely the developers problem, as millions of people own plasmas for their own reasons, and wish to play Destiny. Should they all not play before they've owned a plasma for years? Or live with their parents who only have a plasma? No, the dev should always adjust to the users needs, since after all we are the only reason they have jobs as game devs, us the consumers. Bungie needs to ad this opacity slider.

You know why? Burn in is a serious problem, one that's grown as more and more content whether it is video games, apps, or even tv programing like news and sports networks feature static imagery on screen for long periods of time. Also, it is the fault of the consumer; burn in or image retention has been a risk of owning plasma screens for over a decade; any actual research into buying one would have revealed this to you as well as several methods for preventing it from happening. All your research turned up was the fact that your tv has great picture quality and rich blacks; which you are benefiting from so greatly since your inability to perform regular care for it has ruined your tv; and I am sure one quick talk with Panisonic will reveal that they find you at fault as well. Devs not including a feature that prevents image retention does not excuse you from taking care of your equipment; Bungie holds no responsibilities to your console or TVs condition of use, you do.

not the developers problem its the players problems. take breaks watch TV, go outside. you decided to buy a TV knowing the risk of imabe burn and then proceed to play a game with a HUD on it for hours at a time and burn the image into your screen. I feel sorry for you, and opaque hud would be nice to help stop this. but its not the developers problem. I wouldn't be against them doing this to save future TVs' but it does not change the fact that your own actions did this.

I'm not looking for them to compensate me, I'm not looking for a new TV or a lawsuit, I'm looking for a feature which should of been there day one. Thank you for your opinion. If you'd be so kind, please keep posting here, simply, as you said, to help the future sufferers of this issue.

I don't think it should have been there day one. its a nice feature but an un needed one. I'll keep posting and having a conversation though cause I think it would be a nice thing to add. I don't even have a plasma but its something I've worried about on my TV ever since the desktop got burnt into my computer screen years ago lol.

For sure, LEDs and LCDs (same pixel tech) can still burn-in, as you found on your monitor. Thank you, posting often will help get this added.
