Iron Banner 2.0: Levels still don't matter. Why?

What the -blam!- is this shit? That's me, a level 30 Defender being one shotted by a level 25 Hunter in Iron Banner. That same hunter would finish in 2nd place on a team full of 29s and 30s. I was told, explicitly, BY YOU DEEJ: IN THIS POST: https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---11132014/en/News/News?aid=12387
Power. Does. Matter! (no, really) Only players Level 20 and above can lead a Fireteam Players below Level 20 can accompany more powerful friends Players within 3 Levels can be competitive with each other Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage Wear your best (highest rated) armor Players out of your league will seem like a Boss
1) Do you need help doing math? What is 30 - 25. Is it 3? 2) Do you need help with the definition of "out of your league" and "boss"? 3) Please explain why Level 25's are able to one shot level 30s, with regular weapons (nonheavy) in IB. Would it have been so hard to use a damage dampening function that ceilings at (opponentMaxHealth-%10) for the sake of making light level ACTUALLY matter? Seriously? Bait and -blam!-ing switch dude. I resubbed my psn+ for the chance to make my raid gear shine, and now I wish I hadn't. Edit: Because all of you are idiots 1) Yes my shot did not connect and kill the guy. At no point did I claim I wanted people to die when I looked at them because they are a lower level than me. Please feel free to spend precious moments of your life to tell me I missed, as I clearly had no idea. 2) If the light level damage dropoff curve is so pathetic in IB 2.0 that a decent shot from a non-heavy weapon is still a one-shot despite a huge level gap (>3), then your light level doesn't matter in practice. Only in theory. If it only matters in theory, this is IB 1.0 3) I typically do patrol mission bounties etc before I log out. I do not do these in my level 30 set because my level 30 set has way too much strength over disc/int thanks to rng. Is it so hard to imagine that a guy can log off in a not level 30 set and still be level 30 when he wants to?

What, did you expect to automatically win every single Iron Banner game simply because you're level 30? Sure, level advantages are enabled, but it still takes a decent amount of skill to win as well. You got shot at close range by a full burst of his 77 Wizard Legendary Fusion Rifle, which is one of the hardest-hitting weapons in the game. The 77 Wizard's Impact stat bar is almost full. Even if you're a relatively low level Guardian in the Iron Banner, I assume that you would do full damage to a level 30 Guardian if you had a fully upgraded Legendary or Exotic weapon (300 Attack). This is fair, since being level 30 doesn't make you more skilled than a level 29 or even a level 25. It just means that you got lucky with RNG in the Raid. Bungie also said this.
LEVEL ADVANTAGES ENABLED Your DEFENSE rating affects how you take damage. Your ATTACK rating affects how you inflict damage. Lower-level players wielding fully-upgraded weapons should still be considered a very credible threat!
TL;DR You got hit by a full burst from the 77 Wizard, the Legendary Fusion Rifle with the highest Impact, which was probably fully upgraded, at close range. Even though you missed horribly with your own Fusion Rifle, with only one or two particles from your own burst barely grazing him, you still took his Health down to the red zone.
