I for one would love to be able to do this. This game lacks proper customization, especially since everybody is striving for the same exact armor. I would love to be able to use some sort of purchasable transmutation consumable that lets you change the skin of any legendary armor piece (exotics would not be able to be changed) with the skin of any armor you like. Stats, light, and name of the original armor stays the same. Maybe put two little diagonal lines in the bottom corner of the armor icon in the menu to let other who inspect you know that you've changed the skin of that piece. Just kind of thinking out loud here.
Anyways what do you guys think?
Edit: To clarify, I'm talking about the actual models of the armor. So for example, I'm not a big fan of the raid gauntlets for my hunter but I've saved a pair of rare gauntlets called CRYPTID 4.6C because I really like how they look. The idea is to have my raid gauntlets look just like the CRYPTID 4.6C model but still carry the same light, perks, and name of the raid gauntlets.

Shaders?

Edited by D2 is cancer: 11/15/2014 8:11:42 PMbeen proposing this since beta. i don't think bungie understands what's proper customization is. Personally, i'd like to change the look of my exotic armors as well because my fav armor piece (for warlock, the only class i play) is Voidfang Vestements and i cannot stand its fugly ass look, would wear Manifold Seeker II any day of the year over it
-
Been asking for this for ages. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/84881785/0/0/1
-
Bunch of threads about this already, it's called Transmogrify, and it's a feature very popular in Diablo III. Would love to see this come to Destiny though, +1.
-
Please let this happen...
-
BUMP!!!!!!!!!! I H A T E the way raid boots look on my Hunter, c'mon man, it's all about stealth and I have to wear this tin tray on my lag? WTF?!

you should see my post on armor and how to make a cool story on it its similar to this but takes a little more effort http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/76717939/0/0

Even if you get a piece of armour and you unlock a few variants, depending on the level of the gear. That way at least you can mix it up a little, I can see the transmog option being easier to implement though.
-
Diablo 3 implemented a reskin option and it was amazing Sometimes the best tier stuff looks like crap compared to mid range gear
-
Like a fashion slot? Bump
-
We definitely either need a way to transfer (transmat?) skins, or cosmetic slots. People love to be different, and right now the only way to do that is to have a weapon most people don't have (snowflake syndrome)
-
I personally like the bandanna-on-my-helmet look of earlier levels.
-
Signed!!!! The rogue boots for a hunter has a knife in the thigh and it looks amazing. I want to wear them but there is no point.
-
Agreed I go back to level 28 just for aesthetics
-
Yes please!!! I would pay so much glimmer to change the looks of my armor.

What you're saying is that we need cosmetic overrides? Support
-
Great idea.
-
Doesn't WoW have something like this, for exactly this reason? Bungie could certainly take a few cues from one of, if not the most successful MMORPG of all time. In Halo 3 and Reach, all of the armor was cosmetic, with the result being that you almost never saw another Spartan that looked exactly like yours. And in Reach, they went the extra mile, including several optional attachments to the helmets and chest pieces to further customize your look. We could use some of that here.

Edited by Adam: 11/14/2014 3:58:28 AMI find it pretty ridiculous that you can't individually colour your armour how you like. It's 2014 and all we have are shaders?! C'mon Bungie. How about unlockable skins for weapons? Y'know, 500 headshots with Shadow Price nets you an urban camo skin 50 zones defended with The Comedian grants you a black camo skin 200 Headshots with The Final Boss gives you a black/red skin ETC The legendary guns just look really ugly with the Faction logos plastered all over them.... I want my weapon to be unique to me. Surely that would be pretty easy to implement?

I like this idea, bump bump.
-
This lack of customization might be one of the things that will make me jump ship after my Season Pass expires.
-
This is perfect. So everyone doesn't look like a clone
-
We need this, BADLY.
