So I heard that when the Dark Below releases, there will be new items to upgrade our current exotic items to level 32. After a little digging I found the above linked page, with Exotic Armor Shards, and Exotic Weapon Cores. The rumor I've heard (and it's all rumors until Bungie officially confirms) is that we will only be able to use these items on our current exotic items, so that we can be level 32 when wearing them with raid gear. If that is true, I think it's a huge mistake and a missed opportunity. We were promised all sorts of customization and choice in what we wore in Destiny, and all of that was inadvertently taken away with the horrible light system. If the DLC provides us with an item we can use to upgrade ANY legendary armor piece to level 32, that will solve a lot of problems. Players will be able to reach level 32 without having to hope to get lucky on drops in the new raid. There would be variety in the armor pieces level 32 players are wearing. If the current system stays in place, all of the highest level players in each class will be wearing exactly the same armor pieces, with exception of one exotic piece. And as we all know, if you want to be the highest level, you have no choice over what perks you get from armor pieces. So if you use scout rifles and the new raid gear gives you some hand cannon perks you don't want - too bad. I'm not saying it should be easy to reach the highest level. These new exotic upgrade items will presumably be difficult to acquire. But the current system of only getting to the highest level with raid gear is terrible. And I for one think the new raid armor looks fugly. Now is the time for us to speak up! This is a chance for Bungie to right one of the mistakes in this game.
