As a LV 30 hunter that's done Hard mode (legit) many times.
I can say it is the player's skill, not the class, that matters. As a hunter in hard VoG I don't die very often, and if I do, it's usually due to a wipe.
I think in this regard stats matter. Those of you decrying hunters as terrible have (from the profiles I've seen) very little VoG experience.
Hunters are balanced with the other classes. If you have a group of 6 players communicating that know what to do any group of 6 could do the raid. Easy or Hard.

Vog is not for everyone. The individual behind the controller is important. As a Hunter I have taken all of the roles on the raid. I solo portals during the Gatekeeper and can do relics / supplicants / or oracles at the end. Hunters are not the problem. Poorly skilled individuals are. Some small tweaks might be necessary for Hunters, but saying they are not capable of Hard mode is erroneous.
