When I watched Return of the King opening day in theaters I cried with most of the audience when Sam was carrying Frodo as well as during the scene when Frodo sends Sam away.
Still tear up during the carrying scene.

That part was pretty epic. If it weren't for Sam, frodo never would have made it. In the extended edition, when frodo goes to valinor with the elves, shit, saddest thing I've ever seen.
