I bring to you an official announcement from the DoD admin team regarding the future of our community. Please take a minute to read and give us your feedback.
"First off, we want to say we LOVE this community. We've dedicated ourselves to making this place the very best it can be, for all of our members. You guys are awesome and we would be nothing without you!
We are in-game battling the Vex alongside you. We are on the forums everyday. We chat with you, and we LISTEN.
Things have started to change in our community. For some, Destiny is still glorious. For others, it sits on a shelf next to Dinklebot gathering dust as they begin to jump into new games. Either way, everyone agrees that something special has been formed here and this group should stick together no matter what happens. We've got you covered.
In an effort to provide a greater community across multiple games, the DoD is about to undergo a transformation. We are moving our headquarters away from bungie.net and over to dadsofdestiny.net . There, you should expect to see a shift away from focusing on Destiny the game, and a greater focus on the Destiny of this community. We will be launching our very own new, robust, feature-rich forums to provide a community hub for all the games that get you going. Expect new daily and weekly content from the DoD podcast to Twitch to Youtube, and beyond.
This is going to be epic. Its all for you guys. More details to come soon."

I see why they want to do it that way (you can't monetise what you don't control) but I won't be joining it. I'm an "old" man now having playing video games at a competetive level since quake 1 on a 9600 baud modem. Over that time I've joined a plethora of "community sites" and all have had the same problems and inevitable fate. The bungie app and this subgroup is fit for purpose and I see no reason to change.

I was thinking about who might be up for Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 linkups from here, as they are very much on my radar from their launch day onwards. That'll pretty much mean I disappear from Destiny until I pick up the DLC later (might be a couple of months). So long term possibly it'd be interesting to have the independent hub, as we'll all be on different games.

Edited by S7even_UK: 11/7/2014 9:50:17 AMI agree with Lego. I had around 20 friends from my Army days on PSN, a lot of whom are away being busy with work. Coming on here as allowed me to connect with more mature gamers and I am glad to say that my experience with the members from here is around 98% in the positive (the other 2% know who you are lol). I certainly would not have raided as often and would have definitely struggled more with the weekly challenges had I not had chance to post requests on the forum. What would be really useful I think moving forward would be a more intuitive way of showing users PSN user names. It's hard to know which ones I have and which ones I don’t. Maybe the website can have a better way than that which Bungie.net have of showing users? Steve PSN - S7even_UK

It would be a real shame in my view if the dod maingroup left budgie.net altogether. I can't see how they would though as the group would have to remain on budgie.net to remain a clan in game. I can see the logic as there are a lot of games about to be released. And of course they will get advertising revenue! If you compare our group forum activity to many others it is clear that we use it a lot more than most. As already said the app is very convenient too. I assume that what they are getting at is a central dads of destiny hub website. If they are going to dismantle budgie.net now or in the future then nothing to stop us staying is there? (just noticed autocorrect has already migrated us to budgie.net! Tweet tweet)

I like it a lot:-) hope you didn't mind me using the clan name in the new call of duty? And will we be using it for far cry 4, gta5,and battlefields? Or am I jumping the gun here a bit?

Edited by Longman90: 11/6/2014 11:11:10 PMSounds great. As a newcomer to the group I have to say it has been an experience to say the least! I have met people and have jumped from 2 Psn friends to having 40+.. Tonight I was playing with a few guys for the first time in a fireteam (I was a lone ranger until this point) and had a great laugh getting annihilated by the Vex. Myself I will be sticking with Destiny as I am yet to come close to conquering my goals. I will follow the group where ever it decides to go as I have never fealt so welcomed in such a short time. Thanks Dod users and thanks Admin team for making this possible. *just signed up to the website
