Explain to me, because I just can't seem to make it work. Do I just need more practice using it?

Yes. They are marksman's weapon. I can down you in 3 bullets faster then like 6 from an AR. I can 1 shot most enemies in PvE versus the multiple required from an auto rifle. Bigger magazine is irrelevant to me.

Clip for clip, scout rifles are just better.

No they are not. 86 damage vs 56 damage is far better in the crucible

Again clip to clip might have 6 to 8 maybe 13 with Hawkmoon. I got 27. And I was going of pve

I think that's more accurate. I hit at 1089 or so with my legendary scout. My hawkmoon his about 1200, but it is exotic, and not full upgraded.

I hit right about 1500 with Max thorn which gets the job done for me
