The best way I've found is just doing strikes to get engrams and going on patrols to find parts to upgrade your armor. I myself have been lvl 27 for almost a month but that's due to me switching my armor around to lvl up other legendary and exotic pieces.

See the problem is I can't find legendary anything just rare stuff and it's starting to get annoying. Also what to team up trying to build guild.

Do vanguard or crucible rank up then buy the legendaries, that's what I did for my chest piece and my gauntlents.
