Why do the robot characters have genders anyway? It's not like they shoot from their robo-breasts a la Austin Powers. They serve no function except to quell some weird fetishes... maybe.

Gender in robots is a matter of aesthetics.
-
Why do the exo's breathe?
-
Cooling.
-
> not using nitrogen based cooling systems.

Clearly they have a liquid heat transfer system and an internal radiator that must have airflow to disperse the heat into the atmosphere. It worked fine in cars for centuries, so they figured they'd adapt it, while getting an added bonus of a human simulacrum of breathing to boost ease of interaction with humans.

Edited by ariesdragon123: 10/24/2014 1:12:50 PMWhy would it be necessary for the robots to shoot from robo-breasts to be legitimate to have it female? They are male/female non-sexual robots IRL, like robots that help people find directions in Japan and such. It's just a random trait that relates to the design aesthetic. Just because it's female doesn't mean you need to be able to sex it. It's a robot for crying out loud! My girl exo has a robo-flower on her robo-head. It's fun.

The flower is actually battle damage.
-
This has slightly bothered me.
-
Yeah, I have to question that...

I actually like that robots have genders, as it defys the idea of gender=genitals.
