Great, I've been grinding strikes and bounties to get my vanguard to Lvl 3 specifically for a legendary assault rifle now they've been nerfed. I actually don't like pulse rifles and that's ALL the game has ever given me legendary & exotic. Guess this was the reason.

If the fire rate of my red death wasn't so horrid, I'd love using it more. 28 rounds, moderate reliad speed l, I can't complain much about it. I need to get used to its recoil so I can continue with precision shots but it's hits feel real solid & now since AR's are now seemingly useless I may just HAVE to main pulse rifles which I shouldn't need to do since this game is supposedly all about playing YOUR way. It's now feeling like play it budgie developers way or you'll be penalized. All these nerfs & farming patches make it seem like we can't do what we want like advertised. As if the patches are boxing us into the way they want us to play the game.

You have something of a point there, but does nefing auto rifles force you to play "Bungie's Way"? Not really, they're just adjusting the rules of the sandbox because most people used the same tools. Bungie developers have had archetype playstyles in mind for each of the weapons from the beginning, auto rifles being varying amounts of "spray and pray". However if you can use a carbine-style auto rifle effectively at a distance comparable to a scout rifle, and then still take advantage of the full auto abilities at closer range, why use any other weapon? Auto rifles were nerfed to make other wepon types actually useful. If someone who used to use an auto rifle can't stand it after the nerf, then maybe they should choose another weapon that suits their playstyle. Also, I find it very satisfying to "make it work", and not just with weapons. I am a close-up, in your face, hand cannon wielding voidwalker that uses axion bolt, shatter, surge, and bloom. One of my clanmates is the "tank" of our group, and he is a sunsinger. Buck the accepted norms. Let the minmaxers whine. One weapon type does not a playstyle make.

Well, I'm not saying that the nerfs are the things boxing us in. I should have worded my post better. Patching the loot caves & trying to prevent players from farming was primarily what I meant. Even still, if I prefer a certain weapon type then I shouldn't feel like I'm being forced to play with another nor should I have to change my playstyle in a game that claims we can play it our way. We can in small instances but not for the most part. There are others who've stated their grievances much better than I have, but basically I'd like my AR to have its power for PvE since its what I play most. Especially since the majors, ultras & bosses absorb so much damage on a solo run, even more so when in a fireteam. Nerfing so far has hurt the pve community because the pvp babies cry louder.

  • That last line I can agree with. Given Bungie's inexperience (read:none) with a pve metagame, and being used to responding to a primarily pvp playerbase, I can see them initially overreacting to pvp imbalance since they always like to have balanced pvp(iron banner being wierd was a part of this). Eventually they'll figure the pve side out.

  • Yeah, I'm trying my absolute best to try & step back to think things out a bit. Initially I got swept up in the tide of angry rant posts about this latest patch. If we all take a look back, (which I know will not happen) this is a long term game. It's plan is to have a very long shelf life & we are just barely a month into it. A game such as this hasn't been done for consoles so to Bungie this is uncharted water for them & there are bound to be a ton of mistakes. They're trying to mesh together gamers of two different genres (fps & mmo, feel free to add in anymore genres if you feel it fits) & there will always be those on either side who are unhappy with something. Mostly dealing with their feels & how they think the other side is being catered to. My point being is that since this isn't your run of the mill typical linear game, we need to give it years worth of time for just the base of correct issues to settle in then the corrections for the mistakes made. Instead of all the lashing out & threats of never buying or trusting Bungie again, there should be more constructive criticism. I can listen to the things you may disagree with me on because you're not trying to troll my every sentence, belittle me because of my game stats or because I haven't done Raid X on whatever difficulty setting hundreds of times. If more of the forum users actually spoke instead of bïtch out at Bungie &/or other users, things might actually get done around here a lot more smoothly. I apologize for going way off topic & tossing brick after brick of text at you.

I see you point and applaud it but what about a buff not a nerf.
