Honestly I think it's far simpler than that.
Release destiny with JUST enough content to keep players occupied till November.
Activision's other AAA title launches.
I.e. Cod
Once the fanfare from its launch dies off, surprise surprise: destiny dlc 1 comes out
Keeping both proverbial gravy trains flowing without them stunting one another

I'm definitely not disregarding that as a possibility. Activision lost my respect after Ghosts. Yeah the COD franchise has gotten continually worse but it's the only title (aside from Halo) that I can play multiplayer with friends on. That being said...my Ghosts account got wiped. Spoke with tech support and the person hinted at a mess up with servers etc. Nothing came of it. Tried contacting them multiple times -no help. Money. Profit matters customer doesn't. As the iPhone autocorrect would say They can suck my duck.
