Stormbringers "Public Event" Guide

Read, Learn, Improve. If you know whats in here already then move on.. dont post useless trolling. Rating scale based on 1 being easiest and 10 being most difficult. Low level players consists of players around enemy levels. High level players consist of 20+ While some events can be done by low levels solo with planning and strategy.. this guide is going off that most players are "CoD" players that believe more bullets less thinking is the approach to everything. That being said... most low levels are advised to group PEs to attain a gold rating, till your more familiar with your character and the events your taking on. General concensus based on average players.. there are exceptions so dont troll if your one of these exceptions. Though constructive critisisim is ALWAYS welcome. ===== ALL information in this guide is done via myself from in game experience and trials and errors.. and was not pilfered or mooched from any other site nor guides. This is only allowed to be placed upon the official Bungie.net website and gamefaqs.com websites ONLY. PLEASE visit the forum thread above on the bungie site to give it the attention it needs to remain alive instead of lost in the abyss.. bungies forum setup is.. abysmal at best. any references to this guide must be done so with proper credit given to all involved.... ect, ect, ect.. ===== Public Events PEs are not so random timed events that take place in nearly every "world map" location in the game.. easily identified by the sky darkening and a deep bassy undertone playing while a black and orange banner fills your upper portion of your screen giving what kind of event is being played out. Depending on the event, you are given a short ammount of time to activate it before it derenders.. or it activates itself upon arrival and gives its full timer. The intent for PEs is to add a bit of "life" and interactivity to each map and to break up the monotony of the areas usual on goings. In addition to this PEs also offer a 5% chance or so upon gold completion to offer ascendant materials. PEs also offer upon your FIRST gold of the day a "bounty reward" inthe tower via the post master giving a 5000k exp boost and a gaurenteed ascendent material. This makes them a daily requirement to keep your upgrade materials full as well as needed exp bonuses for power leveling exotics, motes of light, or any other gear where every exp chunk comes in handy. ----- Defend Sattelite Strike Activate time- 45s Event Time- 4m ----- Low Level Group- 1 High Level Solo- 1 Literally the EASIEST of ALL Public Events [PEs]. If you play it smart and understand how it operates. When the title banner for the PE happens... find cover.. being near the impact zone will severly damage or even outright kill you.. if you dont know where its going to land, being under something is always gaurenteed survival as all landfalls happen in open areas. Youve about 43 seconds to make it to the impact site and use your ghost to activate the event. From there you must stay with in white ring outline around the event to cuse a "data transfer" timer to tick down from 1 to 100%. Multiple people does not speed up the process. Once activated, nearby caves and dropships will start dropping in 5-6 enemies in waves to try to push you out the zone. --- This is where your reaction tells you to kill the enemies... convince your reaction to do otherwise!!! Each time you kill a wave.. the next wave with tougher enemies instantly activates.. building up to heavily shielded elites. Simply put.. the faster you kill things the harder the event becomes. Kill all but ONE enemy... and just use the debris as cover to avoid his attacks... when he backs off on his own.. and the next wave activates.. 40% will be completed. Kill all but one again... 80% done. Wave 3 will consist of 1 at most 2 elites.. and you only have to survive 20% to complete this super easy event that even low level players can solo. ===== Defeat Extraction Crews Activate time- 1m Event Time- 1:30m,1m,1m ----- Low Level Group- 5 High Level Solo- 2 This will likly be your first real fight in game. A light Cruiser warps in from spacefold and sends out scout ships while an enemy Dropship comes in and picks a open location to drop a laser energy based drilling machiene and 6-8 enemies to defend it in an attempt to mine the area of Glimmer. -WARNING- Standing in the energy drill WILL harm and eventually kill you. Each wave must be eliminated within time, which derenders the drill and calls in another Dropship hauling tougher enemies to another location to start the next wave. Be on your Sparrow when the wave ends to get to the next site as soon as possible. Low levels MUST be in a group with heavy weapons available. round 3 consists of multiple elites and its best to save your "super" for this round. But is completly doable. High levels usualy cake walk through this.. though gear setup and stray enemies can complicate things. ===== Eliminate Target A/B Activate time- 5m Event Time- 5m/5-6 checkpoints. ----- Low Level Group- A-6/B-10 High Level Solo- A-3/B-10 "A" is a standard elite enemy that comes from his hiding spot and patrols around till engaged. Once engaged he puts up one hell of a fight.. and at about 1/3rd health gone will start following a pre-defined path consisting of a series of checkpoints to an exit point. If time runs out or the target escapes you fail. Once running the target safe engaging in melee.. or flash banged.. or staggered.. WONT stop and moves at a pace of a guardian at a full run. This speed is what makes these events difficult. Lower levels, the more you have the more likly your going to kill it before it reaches its escape point. EXCEPTIONS... Servitors.. slow.. easy to mow down. ----- "B" This is another story, same as above except THIS target is shielded..usually a captain of some sort. Its a heavy shield with high health. Worse is it has a 5 second recovery timer. This means it takes serious damage to even take his shields down.. and if hes not hit in 5 seconds of them going down.. they fill right back up. Low levels.. 4+ people are advised with some heavy firepower and supers. High levels. still tough.. supers, grenades, weapons that stagger.. and if IF you can take the shields down.. you have to KEEP them down... AND kill him before he runs to the escape point. A flawless run will net you a victory. any outside interference from a bad reload, missed super, normal enemies dropping your health low.. and this ones getting away. ===== Prevent Vex Sacrifices Activate time- 1m Event Time- 4m / 10 sacrifices ----- Low Level Group- 6 High Level Solo- 9 Pillar appears with vex already around it, approach with guns blazing to kill the nearby Vex before the pillar fully activates. Once active the timer counts down and you have to survive till that timer hits 0. You can have up to 9 slip by before total failure. But going for Gold you let even one past and you get no prizes. Enemies start spawning at set intervals and each wave consists of tougher enemies, in larger numbers and increasing number of elites from 2-3 directions. Save Supers for later waves or emergency saves when a vex sneaks past. Low groups, rockets help clear out groups of goblins fast while void fusion rifles and shotguns will make decent work of the minotaurs... try to have at least one person to a side with a 3rd giving support for the sides that need it the most and to deal with stragglers that sneak past. High level Solo... dont bother. While possible, you have to cover 3 directions at once.. and all it takes is ONE to TP straight to the pillar and vanish in 3 seconds before you even knew he was there to begin with and you lose your gold. simply put when your surrounded by several elite axis minocs and 2 hydras and 20 goblins... 9 times out of 10 something is slipping by.. and is not worth the stress. 2 high levels on the other hand.. no problems. ===== Defeat Fallen Walker Activate time- 5m Event Time- 5m ----- Low Level Group- 5 High Level Solo- 1 6 Legged spider tank is dropped into the middle of your resource and bounty farming.. disrupting everything and ruining your day! If your familiar with the Devils Lair strike.. nothing new here. 3 second death spawn timer makes things super easy.. all 3 zones offer PLENTY of cover to duck behind. the big changes are theres a constant spawning of Fallen to overwhelm your hiding position. Kill any Fallen near you first and foremost, from there focus on the tank.. its armored legs are its weak point. Hammer the front 2 legs, after 5000 damage the armor breaks off doing additional damage to the body, causing the tank to colapse, and open up the TRUE weak spot behind the head. Fire on the weak point because the rest of the tank becomes immune to damage while prone. After a few shots the tank closes up. resets and resumes attacking you. Focus on the next armored leg, continuing the process while avoiding its attacks. Missiles lead by its blue charging fires 4-6 rounds with minor AoE that at low levels are fatal. if its pointed at you while charging, move. Big red laser indicated its about to fire its main cannon. MASSIVE AoE which even at higher levels will 1 hit kill on a direct hit. make certain your behind big thick cover, or back off from where its pointing when it charges. static bounce mines and its frontal minigun are also a serious threat to lower levels but not so much to higher armored guardians. The swarms of enemies, your limited ammo, and the 5 minute time limit are your true challenges here. low levels arent going to solo in 5 minutes... bring friends. TIP.. run COMPLETELY out of ammo for all 3 weapons and 10 seconds later Destiny out of sympathy restocks all your ammo.. so fire away as fast as you can. High Levels... if you cant solo this... theres seriously.. something wrong.
