It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.
-
Nah. I'm not about that life. I speed run
-
Or maybe they have a bounty and don't care about you trying to get that phat loot that doesn't get you to 30
-
I think we can all agree that the main issue here is that Destiny's loot system sucks.
-
Who's running strikes for legendaries? Why do so few people seem to understand the straightforward and periodic way you acquire new gear. It's like everyone playing this game is some Asian sweatshop grinder who loves to just mindlessly kill things hoping to score a lot of small drop chances while the rest of us are just turning in currency for gear.
-
I like to do skip the mobs in the beginning because I find it very exciting to run through all of them shooting at me. It adds a little fun to the strike for me, and because I do the strike faster, I get to have the same thrill sooner! It's my play style, so don't be angry at me for playing the game the way I want to
-
i raced through every tiger strike i did last night. Got two legendaries and tons of decoherents in about 45 minutes.
-
Just got another Legendary Engram, Boots, from the Mobs during the Strike. It was waiting for me at the postmaster. I must of missed it during having to rush to keep up with the rest of the group ;).
-
I agree 100% the way these people treat this game is sad, this game is a rush job to all these kids and teens. All they want to do is farm, rush everything else. Go ahead rush past me to get to the end complaints filed! Stop wasting my time!
-
I have a buddy who soloed the first two nightfalls. This week and last week, I did the nightfall and the weekly with just one other person. I completed a Vanguard Tiger (lvl 24) strike entirely by myself (the one with the 3 psion guys at the end). If you're so damn concerned about it, just go at your own pace, and by the time you reach the end boss, it'll almost be dead. Plus, it means more drops for you! There, problem solved, discussion over. It's the best of both worlds.
-
Most of that was because I was trying to get to 25 for the exotic bounty. Now it is because everyone is going so fast.
-
I rush a different way. I will only kill what is directly in front of me, unless I have to kill Mobs to progress. I will only play slower with friends.
-
It's the same issue as pvp. Bounties. In the same way that regular and especially exotic bounties fill the crucible with pve guys who don't want to be there, strikes get loaded with pvp guys who are only there for vanguard marks or bounties and not because they have any interest in doing the same 5 strikes over and over. I'm guilty of this myself :(sorry)The only time I've ever done any strikes was the 25 required for Bad Juju and it turned out that weapon is absolute garbage in the crucible anyway.
-
I usually rush to whatever level guys are on the strike, then go crazy killing them. If killing the lower level guys help to get legendaries, then I'll start killing them more.
-
The only reason I do it is to get vanguard marks
-
I got Ice Breaker Last night from Killing the Nexus boss... so yes you can get exotics from the last boss..
-
I got The Last Word exotic hand cannon from a lvl 24 strike and didn't kill the lower level enemies.
-
We just run through it to kill the boss we need for a bounty or something. There aren't any guaranteed legendary drops on strikes anyway, especially on lvl 24 daily/weekly strikes lol.
-
I do a mix. I'll race across some areas, but then jump off my vehicle to grab spin metal, spirit bloom, treasure chests, etc... in common spawning areas.
-
Most killing is still done at the "halt" points in the strike (like killing waves so dinklebot can open a door, killing 3 servitors, etc.) The relatively small amount of mobs you are killing in between really don't account for that much. Spending tons more time to do that clearing actually can hurt though. Say it takes 10 minutes to do a speed clear of some strike. If it takes 15 minutes to do a regular clear, the speed runner can complete 3 runs in the time it'd take you to do 2 runs. That means they would get a definite 2 blue+ items from the end reward more than you. Since you both still have to stop and do most of your killing at the "halt" points, the number of adds a cleaner would kill compared to a rusher isn't all that much higher, definitely not 2 extra blues every other run (only counting blues from the extra mobs, which would be hard to actually test because of RNG). "rushers" are still killing tons of mobs, just they pick to kill only the ones really needed to continue forwards
-
Skipping trash to run to the boss is a time honored tradition. You can kill all the trash you want but I'm going to be murdering the boss without you.
-
They should matchmake based on experience or hours played. It seems the people who support speed rushing are the same people who play the game like its a full time job. It's no wonder they're tired of running the same strikes over and over.
-
You do the bounty that requires you run it 25 times, you to will learn to speed run and forget about your fellow players. If you want to waste time on low lvl guys, please have fun. Ill be killing the boss and have him almost done by myself by the time you get done.
-
Why do you care? It happens to me constantly, but unlike those others I take my times. If they die ahead, it's their problem (they rarely do however). All the mobs will be there for you to clean up while they keep unloading on final boss....
-
ugh.. no the fastest way to get marks are through lv 24 strikes same with rep. farming patrols? yeh,no.
-
Get at least 2-3 blues per strike when u race through it and beat it in like 10-15 min so I'll take it
-
I take it some people just want to level up there vanguard or clan level up. You can't think of them rushing with no point attached to it. Some people don't always have enough time but i do get what you mean. If people skip ahead then let them be and take your time to kill what they skip while you slowly caught up. There really no point in having a fit about it. Most of the time it's just luck but i did 15 strikes and walked away with 4 legendarys. All 4 games each player walked away with a legendary as well.
