It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

Edited by BrokenLance: 10/6/2014 4:23:01 AMpeople are bored killing millions of trash mobs in strikes they've memorized top to bottom. but you're right.
You can earn Vanguard rep 5x faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks 5x faster farming Public Events
indeed. but realize people play tiger strikes for the explicit purpose of farming the end roll. me personally i no longer race through strikes because what's at the end? usually a couple rares for my level 25+ character who has zero need for them ever.

This just isn't true.... Post patch the best way of obtaining legendarys in pve (other than with marks or queens gear) IMO is leveling up cryptarc and praying for one or two in the mail. Busting out strikes fast and getting the rare engrams at the end is what leads to leveling up cryptarc. In the end though it's all just luck. This game is driven by luck. I've yet to see a legendary engram drop in a tiger strike post patch. I've seen 2 exotics and a couple legendary rewards at the end of strikes.
-
You don't get better chances for a drop by killing higher level mobs, only for completing a higher level strike. If that was the case, everyone would be farming the mob spawns on bosses. The people that farm for engrams by killing enemies are playing the level 8 strike or are in patrol. The ones in Tiger Strike are farming the end roll. The only point of killing the starting enemies would be to have the slight chance of dropping an engram, but let's face it, do you really think killing an extra twenty mobs is going to drop a legendary?
-
Call insane bullshit on higher drop rate. Anywhere
-
Thank you. I'm getting sick of speedrunners rushing through Strikes, and leaving the rest of us in the dust.
-
I don't really have the time to kill a few more mobs to just get a CHANCE for them to drop a legendary engram. I'd rather speed through the strike to get the guaranteed rewards at the end.
-
"If you're not first you're last"
-
Nope.
-
Both of the 2 legendary items that I have gotten from engrams came from the trash mobs throughout the strikes. The boss engrams are just for dismantling for materials after you've done them the first time.
-
No getting to the boss is the best way to get engrams. If you have done the nightfall you get 31 rep from the 24 strikes. Now I always seem to get 2 decoherent engrams when the timer starts. Do these strikes 10 times and you can level up the crypts rich and that is only if you don't find any other engrams. That is like a chance at a legendary every three or four hours if your fast 250-310 rep and 50 marks..
-
Id love to see proof that the drop rates are higher.
-
I got a Hard Light exotic and a some legengrams so far for completing them.
-
Those low level enemies will most likely keep re spawning and you'll never end up beating the strike. If you want to kill low level enemies for loot go do patrol missions and let the people who want to blast through the strike do so.
-
I did this for 25 strikes for the bad juju bounty
-
You'll be killing enemies consistently as you play. What you're saying makes no sense at all.
-
I will be that guy every time..So far I have gotten 28 legendary engrams for completing the strike mission as a reward..I will not wait, the update increased the rewards for tiger strike mission not the drops from mobs during the strike mission. The odds are more in my favor. I am not wasting time with any weak mob except for that weak boss at the end. have fun wasting your time on those worthless mobs..
-
If someone kills a enemy the engram will still drop. Such as i went a head and finished a strike and had a purple engram in the mailbox so you're wrong.
-
Sorry buddy but for my opinion farming engrams is a waste of my time. Id rather go to the vanguard store and get my legendary gears rather than gamble on farming millions of loots. So try to avoid me in strikes if you dislike people rushing it just to get my bounties done. Sadly thats the only way i can get enough vanguard points. Thats is only my opinion. Btw i dont rush other strike missions than earth and moon for the reason that im not strong enough to do so
-
Its a waste to kill them. Since the patch I have gotten 0 legendary drops and a handful of rare drops. Not worth the extra time at all. If I was trying to get them by killing stuff I wld go to the earth and just kill lvl 2 stuff all day.
-
Higher green drop rate maybe, but beating the strike as fast as possible is the only challenge and gives you the best chance of legendary engrams. You farm engrams for an hour, I'll do strikes as fast as I can for an hour and I bet I get more then you.
-
I race my way past the enemies that have nothing to do with the strike, I'm level 29..i'm not going to waste my time hoping for a good drop from something level 18 and under (depending on the planet) i race past them i get to the higher level enemies, it's that simple. I've done around 100 strikes and it's only my last 20 or so that i've been racing to get to the actual strike, why? because it's a waste of time. -blam!-, i even get bored of killing the enemies in the strike, Level 24 strike playlist for level 29? It gets old and boring and when all you get is blue Engrams and not one legendary reward or engram it just feels pointless, Give me a level 30 strike playlist and i'll start to have fun in strikes again rather than just seeing them as a mark/ rep grind.

Edited by ImTheLastGoonie: 10/6/2014 2:24:32 AMfind people who play your way and team up. done.
-
Plus there are folks just trying to complete bounties as quick as they can.
-
You are sadly mistaken. 90 percent of the time, us high level Guardians arent there for drops... we are completing some stupid bounty, or grinding marks so we can buy real equipment from our vendors. Drops are 1 in a million. My 120 marks are a gaurenteed legendary.
-
You're talking like I should expect to see a legendary drop, I have only seen like 2 so far. Not gonna happen.
-
I rushed through a strike and got suros regime as a reward at the end...
