It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

Edited by Stenbox: 10/6/2014 9:36:36 AMNo, drop rate has NOTHING to do with the level of the strike or whether it is a restricted spawn area. It is exactly the same everywhere! Racing through seems silly at points, but people do it for the end-rewards, which can be Legendaries; and also for the Vanguard marks to get their fate in their own hands and buy the gear they need.

I'm not gonna waste my time with unleveled trash mobs so I usually go by them. But I agree that once you get to the level 24 enemies, you might as well kill them instead of just trying to bypass them.
-
I used to take my time, but the drop rate seems notso consistent if it ever was. It's how I got a super pox. I saw a bloke get Hawkmoon in the roll recently, though, and became a "rusher".
-
Most people do strikes for vanguard not legendary.
-
I'll try to hustle my way through if I'm pressed for time, other than that I like to take my time.
-
because no odd grinds them for marks, right?
-
I have gotten only one leg engram at the end of strike roll. I have gotten a few dozen from the mobs on the way. I average 1-2 blues per run on the mobs and 1-2 from end roll. In most cases it only saves like 5 min tops skipping mobs and it takes 15 (10 if rushing) to do a strike with a decent group. So if I don't kill mobs I get 1-2 engrams for 10 min or if I do I get 3-4 in 15 min.

Edited by Galaxy wolf: 10/6/2014 8:17:45 AMbecause nobody grinds them for marks, right? there's no way public events maybe spawning once a minute for 3 marks is any faster than the strike guaranteeing you 6 for 20 minutes work. and yeah, the low level enemies don't have the higher drop rate, they aren't part of the strike, so can be ignored.. the one lot that I don't is usually the cabal halfway through the Mars strike when it dips between restricted zones, otherwise your just waiting time killing trash mobs that you could farm all you like in patrol, as opposed to finishing the strike and getting the drops / marks / finishing the bounties
-
Loot randomly drops for everyone, regardless of who gets the kill. Those guys who speed ahead are just as likely to find a lost engram when they head back to the tower (because of your kills) as you are. If you want to grind through low level grunts then go for it, if someone else doesn't they will still reap the rewards of your hard work so why should they care?
-
My experience has been that I get more weapon drops from killing bad guys in the strikes and more materials / coins in the end mission roll. But dude, to get exotics and legendaries just level the vanguard or a faction and keep leveling your Cryptarch so he sends you mail packets. Do the nightfalls and farm PE's and save coins / motes for Xur to buy him out on the weekends. Also turn in as many bounties as you can for the chance at an exotic bounty. Queens missions will also give you legendary gear. Sadly you can't shard it anymore but it has high light levels once leveled... That's it!!
-
I can make twice as many vanguard marks farming public events? Umm no, that's is a load of crap. I can do a strike usually in 14mins so that's 6 vanguard marks every 14-15 mins. I'll go in patrol and a public event won't happen for usually 30mins, sometimes longer. I'm not wasting my time running strikes, I'd be wasting my time killing all the enemies and taking 5-10 mins extra since I only have limited time to play each day.
-
I rush thru to get marks and complete bounties. Ain't nobody got time for your lolly gagging around.
-
Like a few youtubers have now said. You are randomly chosen to have exotics, legendaries, whatever it maybe and if the enemies drop engrams well then that's just plain random. Lol everything is quite random
-
I just like to race through the strikes chasing people who are racing ahead of me and catching them in my rad legendary sparrow to make them eat my blue Chen trail as I do wheelies of death.
-
I only race through because I have a bounty for it and am trying to get it done to get more bounties. If I'm actually trying for gear I become a serial killer and shot anything that moves.
-
Me and my buds hate the guys who blow through it. And when's he's dying up ahead and we are killing at the entrance, the 2 of us (if we don't have 3) don't bother to revive him. Before and after the patch we get way more blue/purple engrams by killing our way in, and not just rushing. The end game roll is good for rares, legendaries, and exotics, but with RNG every enemy you kill could possibly be something great. Hell without even doing strikes I usually get 2-4 legendary engrams a day. An exotic at least twice a week. Way more (rares and legendaries) when doing tiger strike and taking our time. Honestly if your doing the strike list, always do it with at least 1friend, that way when mr loner runs ahead they will either die and leave or hide and wait until you get there. As far as I've seen and tried, speed runs get you less, you only get the end roll, maybe a couple engrams from the mobs, and killing the entrance enemies give you a little more chance, but I, and my friends actually enjoy the game and it's mechanics, so speed runs seem pointless but to each their own.
-
Getting bored of strikes now tbh. Got that bad juju part done today......
-
I'm only doing the strikes for the marks/rewards. This grind is getting so tiresome, and the last thing I'd want to do is waste an extra twenty minutes killing low level enemies, especially when it's not necessary.
-
Just play with friends so you don't have to worry about what other people do...
-
I just got Patience and Time from completing a strike on the tiger playlist
-
RNG IS RNG!!!
-
I tend to agree with the principle of the post, but I don't like being told how to play the game. Conflicted.
-
if you do strike for rewards ....you are losing time...and yeah its better to finish quick cause of the engram anyway people do it for bounty strike suck.. Bungie should not allow you to do lower lvl strike should be always same lvl has you are or they are just lame...
-
Lol i know but normal lvl 9 devils lair gave me 2 leg engrames in the spawn restricted 3 waves part. I have not used strike playlist much what are the final rewards like still all blue.
-
LET ME PARAPHRASE THAT YOUR STATEMENT IS INVALID... RNG
