It's getting to be a common thing now during the Lvl 24 Strikes that I see these kids race as fast as they can through the Strike usually hopping on their speeder bypassing the first several mobs of lower level enemies which is fine but then they continue on and bypass as many of the Lvl 24 enemies as they can just to get to the final boss quicker.
Why? The boss gives you nothing and your chances of getting anything worthwhile from the end game roll are poor odds for the amount of time it takes to complete each Strike. Your best shot of getting a Legendary Engram drop or at least multiple blue Engrams to give you a chance at Legendary gear and to rank up the Cryptarch is to kill every Lvl 24 enemy up to the boss because that is where all of my Legendary Engrams have come from and I get at least half of my blue Engrams from Mob drops to go along with what I get in the end game roll.
The Lvl 24 Tiger Strikes since the last patch appear to have a higher drop rate than the normal game modes at least in the areas you're facing Lvl 24 enemies, and so bypassing them to finish the Strike faster is just decreasing your chance of getting multiple drops. There's little other reason to be grinding Lvl 24 Strikes in that manner because you can earn Vanguard rep faster farming Patrols, Vanguard Marks faster farming Public Events, and if you need a bunch of Strikes for a Bounty run the Lvl 8 Devil's Lair on Earth and get them done quick.
So don't be that guy that runs way out ahead of everyone else. Don't waste you and your teammates chances for more Legendary/Exotic drops. It doesn't take but an extra 5 minutes or so to clear out all the Lvl 24 enemies your bypassing between you and the Boss when you do it as a group.

I'd rather have people that race through and skip stuff over sitting outside and farming whatever the planet material is, or even just idling.
-
But definitely race through them if you want Exotics. Got TLW from an end of match Legendary Engram.
-
Tell that to my no land beyond and hard light i got from roc
-
The lvl 24 strikes have a better drop rate? Yeah, you have no proof of that. Finishing the strike as quickly as possible will always be the best bet.
-
I would love to take my time finishing every last enemy off. But 90% of the time i get booted out of the game because of some random animal error code before i can complete the strike. Today I got the Lionfish... I let me tell you, that one's a doozy.. Totally blacked out my screen and all i could do was press start to open my inventory.. so -blam!-ed. I was just doing a strike on Mars just now and right before we got to the boss another random error code booted me completely off xbox live. So yes, i would love to be able to take my time, but as the way things are with Noah's ark of errors.. If i want any good loot i gotta just speed through as fast as my little guardian boots will allow before the big bad Weasels, Bees, Anteaters and Lionfish come and boot my ass to highheavens. Because I don't care what kind of exotic doodads you got, nothing can kill a weasel..
-
In my opinion the strikes aren't fun anymore. I'm on Xbox and there's only 5, I must have done each one a hundred times. Yea maybe you can get some rare or possibly even legendary engrams if you farm the areas outside the strike, but you can do that anywhere. I do the strikes for the marks and rep because I'm working on getting a specific piece of armor. I join the strike playlist because I want to actually do the strike, I'm sorry it's so mundane at this point that I run through it as fast as I can, but I wanna get my shit and move on.
-
In the time it took you to write this post, you could've sped run a strike and got a few engrams... I speed run all the time and yesterday I got a legendary engram that turned into "thunderlord"
-
I sped through nightfall today and got Suros. I dismantled it and proceeded to speed along with my hunter and getting deviant gravity (void) . So far it's been a productive gaming day. Can't wait to see what my titan gets tomorrow.
-
i only skip phalanx -blam!-ing bítches with their shield that blocks rocket launcher aint nobody got time fo that!!!!
-
Edited by Luke KB: 10/7/2014 1:11:51 PMStarred this. So true, when I get a group without any "runners" I usually get between 3-6 *rare* engrams BEFORE the reward at the end. I don't mind people flying past the low level mobs, hell I do that, but then when they go ahead and skip everything else as well... Shits have been flipped.
-
Was the drop rate 1% and then raised it to 5% I play strikes all day and haven't seen any legendary engrams
-
lol no, engrams of the purple kind just do jot drop anymore. all bungie did was gives us the same look just not hide them in purple lies anymore. in fact less purples drop now then b4 patch. and speed runs are the way to go. our guns are way to weak, mobs hit yo hard snd have way to much health especially the bosses omg. it takes 15 minutes to get threw the strike then 20 minutes to just kill the boss with stupid waves of enemies that keep spawning every 10 fkn seconds.
-
I can run any lvl 24 strike in 10 mins or less, if i want drops i would farm for them. At the moment the best way to get purples, coins and so on, is to speed run. Until i find a better way i will just keep leaving you eating my dust. Later slow poke xb
-
If I wanted to farm mobs for a chance at engramd I wouldn't do it in a lvl 24 strike list. Sorry but I do strikes to quickly get my cap of marks and maybe top my rep to next level if im close. I don't even care about chance of end rewards or engram drops they are all bonuses to me. Time is money.
-
I race through strikes because the beginning ISNT PART OF THE STRIKE.... lol Its still the open world bs.
-
Quit your wining its people's choice just you do it yourself l. It still will take a while for the people to kill the boss anyways.
-
20 minutes of clearing trash for a 1/1000 chance of a legendary Ingram that has 1/25 chance of being useful vs clearing a strike in 10 mind, get exp, rep, and at least one engram. Guess which wins?
-
It doesn't matter. You don't get drops in this game anyways so who really cares. Its going on 8 days since I had an legendary drop so no, it doesn't matter if you go right to the boss or kill every minion: the game is broke.
-
I bet most of them are running because they aren't interested in loot from drops, they are rep grinding. To someone grinding rep, any mob regardless of level is a waste of time
-
Gd point i may slow down nxt time
-
In 2 hours of rushing strikes in around 10 minutes each I got 3 exotics then counting blue engrams which I got over 20 of 4 legendary when I take the time to kill everything through through the strike I never get anything so blam yeah I'm rushing through strikes and if my team takes to long I'll force spawn them to the end don't like it get out of matchmaking
-
I see this is the new "loot cave whine" in the game. This is like the 6th or 7th post I've seen on this in the last day. Get over it. If you join a strike, I expect you're there to kill the boss and participate in the strike, NOT kill the mobs between darkness zones that can be farmed on your own time in patrol mode. Especially considering those spaces are shared with those very people who are in patrol mode. Go sit in Ishtar Commons in Patrol Venus - just sit there - and watch as teams of 3 spawn in at the door at random... Guess what those folks are doing? I don't skip anything in the Darkness Zones but I see no point in wasting time killing extremely low level mobs between the Darkness Zones. These arguments that it's like Diablo are laughable and, again, people making such arguments clearly don't see the distinction between a dungeon/loot crawler and an MMO-style gear gated game. Tim Buckley hit the nail on the head with his CAD Comic about "An hour in Destiny". Loot drops are NOT as frequent as they are in a loot crawler like Diablo or Borderlands and the RNG drop loot is less meaningful than grinding for guaranteed loot from rep and marks (and the latest guaranteed engram addition). If you want to waste time killing level 8 mobs in Rocketyards on Earth, go play Patrol. If you want to earn gear, marks, rep, and guaranteed engrams at the end (at least for level 24) by beating a boss, join a Strike. If YOU want to go slowly, how about YOU make a fireteam to work at YOUR pace?
-
some people have reasons for skipping

Edited by Chanlebr: 10/7/2014 6:00:35 PMIve solo'd a Lvl 24 Strike. And even waste a good portion of the time killing respawning enemies due to a public event which happened at the time (My two teammates left me at the very start). And killed every enemy inbetween me and the boss while also killing the boss spawns first. (On the Cabal Command Strike). Yet only had 1 Legendary appear. (To me is completely random as i had a Legendary occur from a chest just before maintenance that i wasnt able to swap yet) Which was a Hunter Cape. And in the end run. I only had 2 rewards (neither of them were Engrams). While in a 3 man team (normally takes 20-30 mins) i get 4 rewards over half the time (with 2 being engrams). So i say, we go at the pace we like. If you dont like it. Go make a fireteam with guys who think the same as you. I'll clear the enemies in the way, but if ill still go at the speed i play at. If someone is lagging behind, ill wait for them at checkpoints. Or at the boss. Its not like the amount of kills affects the rewards in the end. And if i ever lag behind. I dont expect to be waited upon.
-
Nothing to do with age dude. Makes perfect sense to race through a strike. You can farm for marks that way then get your purple gear and decrypt it for shards.
-
because we dont need them.. we're grinding the bounties not strikes for gear lmao :)
