It definetely saves time. You can usually keep running till you hit the mandatory Dinkbot defense part.
I try to play Strikes as intended and clear every room, but if my team-mates decide to run then I usually run too.

I'm with you there, but I haven't met a runner yet who takes the time to communicate his intentions. Unless I'm watching my "allies" closer than my enemies, my first clue I'm with a runner, is generally when I'm expecting support and they've disappeared.
